StuTalon Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 So I have helped a friend clean and oil both used and new guns before, but was wondering how those checks for things like burrs, metal/metal wear, etc... apply to this rifle as the majority of it is not metal. As a new 15-22 owner what should I be looking for with this rifle where the majority of it is polymer? I figure a little time spent up front prepping it properly will save me some headaches down the road.
rodent.22 Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I have the 15/22 Pistol version. Other than a minor wipe n swab before firing there were no issues regarding machining debris or polymer flashing. All operating parts were really crisp and clean, nothing to be noted. Swab the barrel and oil the bolt and fire that thing! Good Shooting!
Longitude Zero Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Clean it...Lube it...Fire it. Have fun. These darn things are sooo addictive.
Frankie Posted November 6, 2011 Report Posted November 6, 2011 Clean it...Lube it...Fire it. Have fun. These darn things are sooo addictive. How often do you clean your rifle - after each time you shoot it or after a certain amount of rounds through it?
rodent.22 Posted November 6, 2011 Report Posted November 6, 2011 It's a matter of choice- the primer compounds in use now are non-corrosive, so cleaning is not required immediately.
