jeepstertim Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 After a month long wait for my local dealer to get my 416 145 RS in I have had a weekend of shooting. about 100 rds and about 15 stoppages! I'm using a subsonic round (SAK moderator fitted) to keep the noise down. most stoppages have been a failure to pick up and load the next round although 2 have been poor ejection.I know the 416 is designed to fire HV but I have read many posts saying they shoot well and reliably on sub sonics, what's going wrong?????The rifle has a 3-9 x 50 sight, SAK moderator, moderator thread converter and a bipod/ foregrip my armourer on camp gave me (same as fitted to the SA80 A2).Oh yes and I'm UK based so the £650 I paid for the gun must be what, $2000 in the US?!
Microgunner Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I believe you'll need to adjust the recoil spring to run reliably with sub-sonics. Oh yes and I'm UK based so the £650 I paid for the gun must be what, $2000 in the US?! About $1000 US.
jeepstertim Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 Sorry should have said, after day 1 I adjusted 1 turn out, after today I have adjusted 1 more but not fired again.
Madhouse Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 You will probably not have this issue with regular ammo. Certainly an adjustment will be needed to compensate for subsonics.
Flieger Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 I believe you will find the sweet spot on the adjustment screw to handle the subs. I know the price you paid gives me pause to ever complain about how high the prices are here. All the same, it's a great rifle, in my humble opinion of course.
jeepstertim Posted March 25, 2013 Author Report Posted March 25, 2013 CCI 100rds and no stoppage.........
Microgunner Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Are you having trouble finding ammunition in the UK also?
techmike Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 You might have to run a few hundred standard or high velocity rounds through it, let the parts wear in a bit. Clean & lube then re-try the sub-sonics.
jeepstertim Posted April 22, 2013 Author Report Posted April 22, 2013 CCI subs still working without a stoppage........cracked it?
