I would like to see this as Law.

Tell me what you think, add stuff...I want this to bounce around.

I want a new way for congress to operate.

1. Let's have a tax on laws. As far as I can tell, this is the only thing that is Not taxed. But it should be. A new federal law should have a tax of 1 billion. U.S. corporations and US citizens may contribute for a new law. (limits will apply) Naturalized citizens may NOT contribute. Their children may, after age 21.

1A. All taxes collected for new federal laws shall be applied to the National Debt.

2. State laws are taxed at 500 million. Only corporations based in that state, and only legal state residents may contribute.

2A. All taxes collected for new state laws shall be payed back to taxpayers that actually payed state taxes.

3. Any new law may only become law after an existing law of equal stature is retired. We have too many laws now. Let's cap the number now. Federal and State requirement. Plus, every 10 years we the people repeal the 10 most unpopular laws, Federal and State.

4. Since we have now restricted the ability of our "law makers" to make new laws, I believe we can make them "part time" law makers. There are several very nice benefits to this.

4A. If we limit them to only 3 months in Washington, they will be in their home districts 9 months/year where we can get at them. (works for both fed & state) Can also decrease their salary and retirement benefits.

4B. With no "lawmakers" in Washington (or state capitols) lobbyists would have to get local - where we can get at them too.

4C. This would drastically reduce congressional staffs, costs and transportation expenses, which should make the green folks happy. (Nancy Pelosi won't be able to fly back & forth across the country at our expense. They now fly commercial)

For instance, if the NRA wanted a new national carry law enacted, they would have to pony up 1 billion just to get the proposed law up for a vote. And some other law would have to be retired.....

What do you think?

Mike

I am an Honorably discharged vet, proud that I served. I was raised as a military brat, salute the flag, do my duty and respect those above my pay grade.....I hate to say this publicly but I AM NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT MY COUNTRY HAS BECOME. Congress does not sit for you and me- they are there to divide the wealth of the nation, in fact the FUTURE WEALTH OF THE NATION. My grandchildrens children won't see the end of the debt. These pork swilling bastards have run the country into the ground. And still are, Republican AND Democrat. Anyone decent is resigning from that damned cess pool. I fear it will take a strong dictator to straiten out this mess. The Supreme court is totally partisan politics, they are our last resort, and they have failed the country and us. I am in no way advocating violence but if every light pole in D.C. was occupied in the morning I would cheer! Isn't this a hell of a thing for a loyal vet to say about his government. HOW SAD.....

Rodent that is exactly the reason I spent 3+ hours standing in the sun at the TEA Party rally yesterday in Albuquerque. This country is on the wrong track and the enginers are shoveling more coal into the fire.  >:( Will my time spent have any effect, I don't know but they are going out of their way to ignore these type of protest. BTW the attendance here was between 9,000 to 12,000 people.

I tried to stay apolitical for all those years I was in the AF, but can't any longer, like you I'm extremely anger at what I see. Also like you I'm a GI brat, so I essentially spent the first 40 years of my life in the Air Force, I am also third generation Air Force, my Grandfather was in a B-24 outfit during WWII. The ruination of our country as the looney liberal left drags this country toward socialism and beyond just sends me into fits. Letter writing and phone calls have no effect on those in office they aren't listening, I've chewed into both of our senators and all three of our representative, yet continue to get rosy letters and e-mails from all 5 about how well they have screwed the American people.

Okay other group members, I'm kicking my soap box under the reloading table and getting down to serious work.
