Stopped in at Big 5 today...

I was actual looking for a new pair of shoes...Honest :grin:

Anyway, much to my shock they had two Colts, a Ruger SR 22 and a Remington, I believe it was a 597 VTR or something. It didn't do much for me.

I tracked down one of their skilled employees, and fondled both Colts.

The flattop version was $749, the carry handle M-4 Clone was $649.

Apparently they were on sale 50 bucks or so off last week.

Rotsa money for a guy with hot rod projects sucking the $ out of my wallet every time I open the door to the shop.

But I want one.

They both felt very good , like old friends. The guy would not let me fiddle with the action but the forward assist moves and appears like it might have some function.

Anyway, I managed to get out of there without pulling out the plastic.

I really want to see the H&K before I commit, and the S&W deserves a look based on all the happy owners I see here.

Gotta find a store with an H&K on the shelf, which means I will have to get off the mountain, which I avoid like the plague.

But, I have a reason, now. ;D

Hey Sam - I have the Colt M-4 and really like it - but a few of the gadgets are only cosmetic - like the forward assist and mag catch. It is after all a blow back action in an AR shroud. I purchased mine thru Gallery of Guns - let's you shop online for the lowest price in your area.

Yeah I have the OPS- really like it. An EXCELLENT arm, if broken in and the correct ammo is used.
