At our club Tactical .22 Match we had the guy from New Mexico Rimfire who runs matches for Ruger including the annual Ruger Rimfire Series in New Mexico at the Founders Ranch which is the home of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society's) home. The also have regular rimfire matches that include both rifle and pistol, and I may have to try it out also. It's about 50 miles away but if you live here those distances done mean much. Anyone interested here ais the link to New Rimfirehttp://www.newmexicorimfire.com/index.html and the one for Founders Ranch http://www.foundersranch.com/index.html imao if since your closest, from lubbock that would be about 220 miles.
I shot my first Tactical .22 Rifle match today and finished last as I expected never having done it before. I had a very good time in spite of the heat, it was 97 degrees as we were finishing up. I think I learned enough to do much better next time. Such as; I went into the first stage with my scope magnification set to high and couldn't find the targets. The shooting while moving diagonally was very difficult I'll have to find someplace to practice that. Wasn't sure how to handle the barricades and went to the right side instead of left (I'm a leftie) and realized I couldn't see all the targets without moving from behind the barricade so had to reposition. Being so out of shape didn't help matters either :-[
Did you snag any of them walking fish. I've spent most of my adult life in arid climates, but a few years back when I was driving school buses I went to NJ for the summer to stay with my Mom because my Dad was working out of the country. Well the humidity almost did me in a couple of times, specially when out taking my walks.
