I had not heard of these guys before, he had all his machines at the show and would make you a holster on the spot. http://www.sharktac.com/ Looked like good quality stuff!
This http://swfa.com/Leatherwood-1-4x24-CMR-Tactical-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P45852.aspx is what I have on my Colt and my AR. I am VERY pleased with them. Zoom is 1 to 4, it has a green illuminated-dot-in-a-doughnut. (click on the small reticle picture to enlarge) The illumination is not very useful on a bright day, but the scope is entirely functional even if the battery goes dead. They cost $250 ea when I got mine. The ranging reticle is obviously for 5.56 and not .22lr... on the Colt I have mine sighted in @ 50 yds, and depending on the ammo I am using, dial the top turret to 6 and it is right on at 100 yds. TM PS-Nice looking rifle!
I have never liked sticking things in the barrel, too easy to scratch the crown or damage the rifling. And with the Colt, there is the flash hider to deal with. When I zero in a new scope, I don't initially use a target or bore sighter, I use a bench rest or bi-pod and just pick a spot on the backstop, fire one round, determine where the round impacted, and with the rifle still at rest, dial the scope cross hairs to the point of impact and it should be pretty darn close. TM
Excellent! :thumb: If you ever want to tighten up the groups with the Colt, consider a trigger job from Bill Springfield. It cost $49, took about 10 days, (just had to send him my trigger pack), and the trigger pull went from 10-ish lbs to 4.5lbs. TM
+1 on the Boresnake - that is what I use for a mini clean. I have found a new-to-me product, Foaming bore cleaner by Gunslick that works very well for me. Simply squirt the stuff in the barrel, wait 30mins & run a few patches thru. :thumb:
It leaves butt ugly holes. But that is not the barrel, it is just a shroud that the actual barrel fits inside of. I mixed up some agraglass and filled the holes, sanded to match the barrel's barrel shroud's contour and dura coated it. If you are not familiar with it, agraglass can be had from Brownells, and is an epoxy type material that won't dry up, crack or fallout. Good luck! TM PS - Post some pics when you get-er done!
Don't know if it works, but just read an article that asserted you should eat locally produced honey, as it will reduce the allergic reaction to local pollen.
Welcome to Tac.22. I used teflon tape - it is black, about .0015" thick and has adhesive on one side - I put some inside the stock and it tightened up the fit.
