  1. sounds like my Seiko kinetics, 3 1/2 hours on the charger will run 'em for 6 months....LOL
  2. where did you find Biddles press release? Will the action upgrades be offered to all owners?
  3. many folks with trouble have been patient and started out by a good CLEANING before firing, and then running 300-400 rounds thru the arm. They seem to respond well to an actual break-in period....
  4. We are at the base of Skyline Drive at the Blue Ridge mountains, not far from the WW2 memorial at Bedford, Va. Visiting the grandkids til tomorrow....
  5. Absolutely- one year a Mini-14, one year a Henry, One year a P-90, This year the Colt M4.22,etc.etc., my wife gives the guns, my daughter and son give me the accessories. Pretty good deal, and when the wife really wants something , I pony up immediately.... :thumb:
  6. we are having a meal at home, and then Friday and Saturday we are going up Virginia's Eastern Shore by way of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and spend 2 days at Chincoteague National Wildlife Preserve doing some birdwatching. A yearly trip for us, we have a great time!!! Assateague Island is where the wild ponies are that are rounded up each year. :thumb:
  7. Hi ya hkm4- remember after you insert your magazine to ''slap'' it up with your left hand upwards to insure it is snapped into place, These mags will feel like they are in place then pop out if not slapped....the manual recommends this also.
  8. this post is in addition to my barrel shortening post. remember guys this worked for ME- use this advice at your own risk....Sorry the photos are blurry
  9. Hi everyone. I see questions constantly about getting a barrel shortened and threaded. So far I've done a Remington Viper, a Mini 14, and a 10/22- all cut to 16 1/8'' and threaded 1/2''X28tpi. It's not too difficult, don't measure the barrel itself for the cut, remember to measure from the closed bolt face, it's gotta be 16'' minimum with a threaded unpinned and unwelded brake or suppressor. No I don't have a lathe at home and I'm rather loathe to dissassemble the barrel from the receiver so I start out with the barrel marked at the 16 1/8'' mark. I tape an 1/8'' ridge, skip a 1/2'' wide area ( where the barrel will be turned down and threaded) and then tape another 1/8'' ridge. These tape ridges serve as a guide for the sanding operation to come. I purchased a 60 yard roll of cloth-backed emery sandpaper #80 grit 1'' wide at the auto parts store for $12.00 or so. Tear off about 4'' of the paper, fold it in half lengthways with the cloth backing to the inside. Now wrap it around the 1/2'' wide area between the tape ridges and take a new or as new set of 6'' or 9'' visegrips and lightly clamp the the paper around the barrel. Turn in one direction only. Don't clamp too tight or the visegrips will cut the emerycloth into pieces. After 3 turns or so the paper must be changed or turned over. This is by far the most difficult part of the job. It takes about 3 hours of steady turning to turn the average barrel to 1/2'' so it can be threaded. Check the barrel frequently with your micrometer. Once you reach the 1/2'' diameter needed for threading, you can square the shoulder of the turned down section of the barrel with a good mill bastard file. This is not required, the suppressor can be tapered internally to ''fit'' the rounded shoulder. I purchased a 1/2X28 die, a thread centering guide, and a handle from Brownells. EXCELLENT customer service and prices, the tool quality is very good. Around $50.00 for everything. Now saw off the unturned section of barrel leaving the 1/2'' long turned down area at the end. Face the end of the barrel square with a flat file. The barrel can be crowned with a round stone in a Dremel tool. Just a touch to clean the ends of the rifiling. A recessed crown is not necessary since the barrel end will be covered. The die is a split die, turn the screw in to open the die up for the initial cut, use a heavy oil and turn the die off the centering guide onto the end of the barrel. I'm a big boy with a good grip, so a barrel vise wasn't needed. A friend holding the gun while you turn the threads may be necessary. Back off and clean the metal chips from the die frequently. After you have turned it all the way to the shoulder back it off , clean it out, reoil and unscrew the screw in the die to cut the threads to their proper 1/2'' size. Check the threads by screwing on the brake, when you can screw it on by hand the threads are deep enough. You will probably notice that the bore will not be concentric with the outside barrel, this is very COMMON and no need to be alarmed. When the barrel is turned down enough to thread the die will take the material off evenly and your accessory will be concentric to the bore. Clean all oil off the threads, cold blue and reoil overnite. The brake can be tapered internally a little at a time to index the brake properly, or you can use red threadlocker. It won't move after it sets up. only use a small amount on the threads ONLY. I'm out of attachment room so I'll post a finished photo under the title finished barrel. This mod turns out well with a little thought and care....
  10. no modded pictures yet, Mrs. Santa has that OPS badboy under her side of the bed... ;D However I'm constantly upgrading sans Colt. I got a UTG illuminated reticle scope, 2 more 30 round clips, I'm gonna OD the stock, grip and rail covers. A tactical light in addition to my bipod and I'll be ready....4500 rounds of Long Rifle ain't hurting nothing either, LOL , also the engraved dust cover.
  11. you and your bride acted in a proper manner, common courtesy knows no social or racial bounds....I don't think good manners are dying in class people, but it sure seems like a lot of trash is afoot. Some people should be forcibly STERILISED- you obviously ran into a pair that were missed....
  12. great exposure! :thumb:
  13. I've actually got a 10/22, somewhat modded. Barrel cut to 16'', an A2 suppressor, ATI Draganov stock, Leaper scope, 25 round clip, shoots very well.
  14. best wishes to your bride...and yourself, I admire a man who takes good care of his gal! :thumb:
  15. Scottsdale gun club site- $24.95 + 7.00 shipping....
  16. Yeah Umarex is fixing this problem with no hassles, call their service line.
  17. What color are the stock etc. you've installed. That brown and black really looks GREAT....
  18. Solscud007- Hi, I see my post was as clear as mud...The early guns I was referring to were the auto AR, not the civilian guns. I've read several posts over the last 6 weeks about the umarex/colt safety having no detent detectable. Mine firmly goes into position both fore and aft, no slop. The center position is not a detent but it still stays in position. Evidently some people have had safety levers come apart or flop back and forth. Mine is serial #24,000 something, some of the early problems have been corrected. I believe the civilian AR's all use forward and up as the two safety positions. My safety very likely will loosen up with use, I can't tell if it's plastic or metal...Sorry about the unclear post.
  19. I agree these guns are truly a sickness- ain't it great? If I only had MONEY....
  20. Great writeup- yes the Colts DO NOT like the Remington bulkpak ammo, my pump Winchester doesn't either. I own the Colt but also gotta look at the S&W....haven't seen one yet. Would ya take $20.00 for the Colt? LOL ;D
  21. I'm sure many of you have seen the repeated attacks on the Colt/Umarex''AR''. On the other web sites, which I will not advertise, the absolutely VENOMOUS attacks have gotten to the point of being silly. One guy has posted DIRE WARNING posts, all identical on 4 different sites - under the guise of someone uneducated whom has been taken advantage of...Come on...Here are a few photos of the hot spots on this rifle that are stirring up the passions- first the POT METAL guide rails and bolt. This is a .22, the inner construction doesn't NEED to be titanium. Look closely in the mag well photo- the INNER finish is as good as the outer. The second photo shows the grip, non-AR dimensions. AR grips will work with slight modification. The 3rd photo shows the bolt hold-open. YES it has one, activating with an empty mag, the external release is for appearance only. Does this ruin the arm? I think NOT. Picture 4- the dust cover...A REAL HEARTBREAKER that it doesn't supposedly work. Mine and many others does, also releases with the bolt moving forward. As it SHOULD. The last and most infuriating detail to the naysayers is the fore and aft safety selector. MINE has 3 firm satisfying clicks when moved to any position, The early guns had the safe, auto, and semi. Delete auto and rename the semi position fire and you have a fore and aft safe/fire switch. Yep....I've laid my Colt/Umarex next to a new .223 Armalite carbine, without the magazine to give it away, you would be VERY hard-pressed to see a difference. No rattles, No rough edges, blow the photos up. Excellent fit and finish. Very tight chamber, poor quality ammo will not feed well thru this arm. Clean it well initially and run a couple hundred rounds of good ammo thru it, an excellent .22 THAT ONLY LOOKS LIKE AN AR. An AR trigger group does not make an AR- nice but not necessary....
  22. a couple of guys at work carry this pistol- a GOOD choice... ;D
  23. Hi! No the Umarex/Colt .22 has a barrel insert inside the external barrel you see. The flash suppressor should be loosened 2 turns to take pressure off the rear receiver pin. Remove the rear pin and the upper receiver will pivot up and give access for spray cleaning. The bolt speed spring is adjustable with the supplied Allen wrench when the upper receiver is tilted forward. There are complete instructions on this site for complete teardown and cleaning.... ;D Welcome to the forum!
  24. What the h*** are you guys talking about?  I gotta show my age here- is this like PONG or TANK BATTLE?? I'm TECHNO-DEPRIVED....unable to operate the DVD thingie without a grandchild present...MAN!!! I LIKE that dancing BANANA
  25. From looking at the picture I'm sure it shoots TEETH..... :thumb:
