  1. I made one of the oversized ones work on mine by installing it over the existing plate. Just slid it up in the notch, and snugged the nut. Works fine. I have found it to be a more convenient sling location, single or two point use.
  2. Some news commentator said the other day that the real losers in this election are the "white, male, middle-class working man". I'm beginning to think this country doesn't want us here anymore. I know I don't feel like I belong! This doesn't even resemble the country I grew up in anymore. I sure did love the fifties! Big beautiful cars, steam locomotives, and classic Harley-Davidson Panheads, and we hadn't discovered the words "racism", and "gay". Politics was all about running the country, and not appeasing the minorities. Even though it seems we're not wanted, if we leave, WHO'S GONNA PAY THE BILLS???
  3. Logic has LEFT (pun intended) the building!
  4. Oh, good grief....
  5. Too short with stock fully extended? Wow! I would try Cheaper-than-Dirt. They have just about anything.
  6. You STILL funny, ha ha! Just didn't want him to accidently get the wrong wrench........
  7. Also, if you decide to remove the barrel nut (and not remove the sight) the wrench pictured will NOT work. It will not slide past the sight!
  8. If you decide to do this, there is a tap that fits the existing holes without drilling. If I remember correctly, it was 6-32 (I think). Remember there is a set screw under the sight that needs to be removed first. As it turned out for me, the same allen wrench that fit the bottom screw also fit the other four. Also, use the shortest screws you can find (1/8"?). With all 4 screws snugged down, the sight will not move, and when you loosen the screws, sight can be aligned, or easily removed.
  9. Doesn't the barrel shroud have a flat side where it goes into the receiver that stops it from turning? Seems mine did. I had to replace the pins in my sight with set screws in order to get mine straight. Pretty easy job, just had to slide sight slightly forward so the set screws missed the holes in the barrel. My front sight was WAY off. By the way, the sight removes easily now, if you ever want to replace your handguard with something else.
  10. If any of you own a Walther PS 22 red dot sight (which I think is an excellent sight), and are a little bothered by the somewhat difficult brightness knob, let me know by responding to this post. I have discovered an easy way of correcting this problem.
  11. I would love to do the CMMG thing, but money prohibits. I've always wanted a true AR that I could swap to Big Bullets! Beleive it or not, I've developed kind of a "bond" with my "Airsoft-Conversion". After working-out most of the bugs in this little jewel, it's become a joy to shoot. and shoot, and shoot. Couldn't afford that with 5.56. With the modified firing pin and the re-sized chamber, it had become ultra-reliable! I just gotta stay away from crappy ammo! My brother even bought some Remington primers that have been splitting in his Mini-30. I think Remington has some QC issues, and I have sent them an email to that effect. They are "looking into it".
  12. That's funny......haha
  13. Oh, and thanks for the well-wishes! Glad no one was to my right!
  14. I still can't make underline work, and Y'ALL QUIT PICKIN ON ME!!
  15. One more thing. I can tell you, I AIN'T SHOOTIN' REMINGTON NO MORE!!! LOTS of EMPHASIS here!!!!
  16. TM, I do recognize my own negligence by firing that next round, and it's not the fault of the rifle. I am saying the "sleeved barrel" design made it EXTREMELY difficult to disassemble the rifle in this situation, whereas a "normal?" one-piece barrel removal would have been a cinch, without the resulting damage to the slide housing! By the way, the folks at Umarex said they have gotten these back before (don't know how many times) with MULTIPLE rounds piled-up in the bore!! It's nice to know I'm not the only dumb-ass out there............. not really, several dumb-asses are much worse than one!! By the way, how do you UNDERLINE words on a computer??
  17. lmao, rifle over two years old. Not in warranty.............. is it?
  18. Follow-up: Completely disassemble rifle. (removed front sight, quad-rail, barrel nut) Wrapped barrel in several layers of leather and put barrel in vise. Took a soft aluminum drift and proceeded to tap the thickest raised portion of the bolt-carrier (rearward, of course) and with tap #3, the bolt carrier busted, both halves. So much for not wanting to beat on the muzzle-end of the barrel, as not to flare IT out and make it stick in TWO (emphasis) places. Well, I beat the shit out of the muzzle (threaded) end, and it finally came out with no apparent damage to the outer barrel. Called Umarex and spoke to a REALLY HELPFUL (emphasis) guy named Troy, who helped me thru my dilemma, and located all my necessary parts (which they had, thank God). He also agreed to have the chamber checked, and reamed to the newer barrel diameter, which I had already done on mine. He said they are doing this to many of the older barrels to help with chambering issues on some ammo. I figured they'd get to that sooner or later. Anyway, it looks like I'll be back in business, all for $197.00 (sheeeeesh)! Isn't it amazing how a 4 cent bullet can cause $200 in damages?? I outta call REMINGTON (emphasis)!!!!!
  19. Much to my own dismay, I have discovered a severe issue involving Colt/Umarex's "barrel-within-a-barrel" design on their M4 rifles. One (apparently) defective round (dreaded Remington) blew the back-end of the case half-off while shooting yesterday. Scared the crap outta me! For whatever reason, the rim split at the base and made a big BANG! After shooting probably 3000 rounds or more, I've never seen this happen before, although I've heard of it happening. Anyway, to make a disgusting story disgusting, I guess my own negligence in play, I cleared the chamber and went back to firing. At about 80 yds, the group began to get really SCATTERED, so I figured I needed to disassemble and do a good cleaning of the bolt and barrel. Well guess what?? I cannot remove the barrel/bolt assembly from the receiver! Apparently the blown casing left a stuck round in the barrel, about mid-way, and the next round blew it out, swelling that nice FLIMSY inner barrel, and seizing it to the outer barrel! No amount of force, tapping, HAMMERING will make it move!! At this point, the entire upper assembly is USELESS, as it can't be further disassembled until the barrel comes out! I'm thinking I may have to hacksaw the barrel in two, close to the receiver in order to remove the barrel. Then I would need a new inner AND outer barrel! That should be CHEAP!!! What a piss-poor design! Removing a barrel, shouldn't have to entail sawing it in half!!
  20. Micro, you might be right. It seems that we used underlining or bold italics for emphasis on words, but I haven't figured out how to do that on the computer. The little square icons on this reply page don't seem to work.
  21. Keys not stuck. Just putting EMPHASIS on certain WORDS! Sorry, I was educated in the "old days" when we had to write, speak, punctuate, and spell ENGLISH.( Boy, that wouldn't work TODAY, would it?) Back then, capitalizing whole words in a sentence denoted emphasis on those words, not YELLING, as it is considered to be in "cyber-talk" these days. I know, I must have some "catching up" to do! Actually the old ways were, and still are, CORRECT! lol, lmfao, imho, and all that CRAP! I'm still amazed at how that scope seemed to see through that front sight......
  22. After putting a 4X scope on my Colt m4 carbine, and NOT using the half-inch riser that I used to use under it, I realized I couldn't see the front sight in scope! (maybe a slight "SHADOW") The sight should block the scope entirely, but it DOESN'T. How can a scope see THROUGH stuff?? I'd love to hear a SCIENTIFIC explanation!
  23. Remington Golden Bullets are NOTORIOUSLY DIRTY!!! Even the spent cases come out black. Not so with Federal, Aguilla, or Winchester, in my experience.
  24. Don't think so. That's some sort of stamping on the inside trigger housing. Couldn't possibly change by changing bolt spring setting. Have no idea what it really is.
  25. I got a box of them from Wally World about a month ago for $44.95, and have also shot about 500 rounds. they seem to be very consistently accurate. Good ammo for the price.
