  2. No wonder I never see you post in the "New Gears Day" thread at the guitar site anymore.. ;D
  3. Well...With 2 exceptions....Both by Kal Tec. The PLR22 and the PMR30...After looking around, I'm beginning to think these models are in actuality unicorns, or a good day of fishing..."Man I had one yesterday...Should have come by then.."... ;D I'm going to a gun show this Sunday to hunt the elusive PLR22... The PMR30 facinates me, but the 22 mag stuff only is kind of a turnoff, but kind of cool at the same time. Kind of undecided. Really doesn't matter...I'm beginning to think Kal Tec just advertises these guns, and sells a few for guys to post youtube vids of, but after that it's like hunting for that lost treasure of the sierra madre. After every show, and internet search I can see Walter Huston in my mind laghing at the sand fall between his fingers.... ;D
  4. And yes.... I know Drew's response by heart on my thoughts on the AR and a dedicated 22lr.... "Gosh Tal...Why not get both!!!"... ;D
  5. God yes I've been to vintage guitar shows....And I've got the dent in my pocket book to prove it.... ;D  I'm thinking about getting into reloading, but I think my next purchase is going to be a full fledge AR15, probably a Bushmaster clone....Then I'll be able to shoot 223 and 556 Nato stuff....Then...voila...drop in the 22LR conversion kit, and I'm shooting 22LR...I'm a little concerned with the accuracy of the 22LR conversion VS. 223...Rifling etc...But I'm still doing research. Was thinking about the dedicated 22 tactical, but for a couple of hundred dollars more you get a full fledged AR....Still researching....
  6. Talked to my brother in law yesterday Asmurff. He has a 92FS, and was raving about it as well. He's currently in South America working as a superintendent for a large refinery project, but promised this Christmas, we would A/B the Storm and the 92...Looking forward to it. Been to the range almost daily, the last couple of weeks. Honing my skills with the 22LR Neos, for about 2 to 300 rounds, and then slowly, delibileratly, shooting the storm..Concentrating on Grip, trigger pull, trigger finger placement, breathing, non distraction techniques, (What I call meditation....Locking out all distractions..) and have been improving.. Then I move on to double taps, and triple taps, practicing target aquistion. I have met some of the nicest people in this new hobby of mine. Everybody tries to be helpful when they see you're they're and seriously trying to improve your skill level. Although like Guitar Playing, you'll find plenty of helpful people that don't know what they're doing, but mean well. I'll go to the range, take my time, and while loading a new mag, etc.. I'll look at the targets of the other shooters. Some of the groupings I've seen some of the Bad A's, shooting have been ridiculous, how close they are. Those nail driver guys, I make a point to talk to in the lounge area, and pick up tips and tricks. I've talked to police officers, soldiers, competition shooters, and all kinds of great shooters, and I listen carefully. Yesterday I ran into a guy shooting at 18 yards a 1911, that was all tricked out. (We're talking thousands with the gun, specialized ammo, upgrades... This guy took about an hour to shoot 3 mags. 1st shot, 1/2" off dead center. You would have thought the world came to an end. He then pulled a rest out of his bag, and adjusted sighting, to where he was driving nails.. And all this took about 45 minutes of fiddling with the sites, taking the gun apart and fiddling around. When he was happy, he shot a mag with the rest, and just drove nails. Then he put up the rest and fired one mag, isoceles postion, and the nail driving continued. Then he packed up and headed to the lounge. I met up with him there and struck up a conversatin. Showed him my groupings. All within about 3 inches at 25 feet, but the low and to the left continues...Told me I was gripping too hard. He knew the owner of the range and he pulled this up.. http://www.hsoi.com/resources/correction_chart-lefthanded.gif We talked about 20 minutes...Went back in, and concentrated on not tightening up, and like magic, hitting the center groupings, without having to adjust my aim, for compensation. I'm really having a ball with my new hobby and hanging with fellow shooters like you, who have been gracious enough to share your experience and insites!!! 8) What a great sport!! 8)
  7. Thank you gentlemen... I will check them out...
  8. What these freakn' idiots forget it's the consumer, who makes the choice.... Tax Cigarrettes, Alcohol, etc.. to generate more government revenue, people either quit, cut back, travel over state lines, with cheaper rates, or resort to the black market....I used to buy cigs at my local convience store, but when they hit $8.00 a pack...The hell with it. I just go over to Louisiana every Month and buy a few cartons, for half price. As far as internet sales.. Watch em' drop like a rock if this gets implemented. The whole thing about internet sales, was sure you didn't pay any tax, but had to pay shipping..Generally it was a wash....Watch places like Gun Genie, Amazon, Ebay..sales decline... The idiots tax the hell out of everything to support their idiocy spending, and then beg you to consume to finance them....Screw em'!!!!!! >:D

I debated long and hard on the governor vs. my 2nd judge. I think the governor is a lot better gun, but alas...the $200 difference made me get jugde #2. Great gun...And those little 410 revolvers are a blast. You're totally going to dig it. My brother went with me to the range last week, and after shooting the 40, the 45, the 9, etc..I pulled my Judges out and told him..."You can't shoot this without laughing.."...Sure enough..1st shot he had a grin from ear to ear. That governor is one sweet gun... Enjoy it!!! 8)
  10. After hanging around here, and a few other places, watching numerous videos, and drooling at several gun dealer sites, I've come to the conclusion.....(Drum Roll...)...It looks like a hell of a lot of fun to own a tactical 22...(Curse you Drew... ;D)...Seems to me a lot of FUN factor having a little 22 with a 25 to 30 round clip. And of course you need multiple clips...Scopes...Carrying case...etc...(Damn you Drew.. ;D) Now...You guys are the experts.. Tactical Rifle...Umarex, Mossberg, S&W, Sig, etc.....OR... Tactical Pistol..Kel Tec, Sig, S&W, etc...(The pistols look like a lot of fun, but I'm a little concerned about the grip..) For a 1st time Tactical 22 buyer and relative newbie to the semi-auto world, what I'd be interested to hear your thoughts...Figure you guys ought to know. I read some of your descriptions about the inner workings, ammo, statistical info, and I think sometimes you guys are talking a foreign language, but after spending some time to research, I understand the topic, and the valuable info being shared here... In short... I value you guys opinions... And I knew Drew, would get me hooked on this when I put my toe in the water...He knows me too well... ;D
  11. Am really looking forward to this. Next Saturday the 27th..Been at the range, popping round after round with my Beretta.. Here's the link to the CHL class I'm enrolled in, and a lot of info about Texas CHL.. http://www.sanjacchl.com/ The 7:30 A.M start time may be a little rough..You know...Musician hours and all.. ;D
  12. Now tell us how your really feel Asmurff.. (BTW..I agree totally...)
  13. You got that right edgecrusher. I play in a big band, and those sax players, guard their Selmers with their lives... ;D
  14. Wow edgecrusher...That's just so sad... A shame they're going after the club. I just didn't get that part the 1st time I saw it...Like I said.. an 8 year old with a 9mm micro Uzi?? And the father just trying to make the kid happy, sounds like, but didn't think it out..A real shame...Thanks for the info..
  15. You're right...READ THE MANUAL!!!! ;D
  16. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2008/10/accidental_machine_gun_death_o.html Personally, as bad as I feel for the father, turning an 8 year old loose with a micro Uzi, just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. And now the State is going after the organizer.. :o And this is after the father signed all kinds of waivers to let the kid shoot. Strange...I remember I didn't get my 1st real gun till I was 12. A single shot J.C. Higgins 410 single shot shotgun for squierrel hunting. And that was after hanging around firearms for years, and listening to my Dad, Grandads, Uncles, preach gun safety.. An 8 year old with a micro uzi??? I don't know...Maybe I'm just old fashioned.. ???
  17. Gee...If this FNP45 survives my stupidity...It's got to be a hell of a gun.. ;D How have I sinned...Let me count the ways... 1) Went directly from the gun show, without cleaning the anti-rust crap out of it, and shot 50 rounds. Had 2 stove pipes..Figured it was a problem with the gun, till I got back home and READ the manual..You're supposed to clean all that crap out, and lube it BEFORE shooting...Did so, and gun fired the next 200 rounds trouble free... 2) Ran a 14 round clip of S&W 40 through it by accident...Action was fine, but groupings were horrendous..Lucky I didn't blow my dang hand off... :o Fired the next 250 rounds fine but with one Failure to Feed.. 3) Had the one Failure to Feed..Started REALLY looking at the gun, and reading Imshur's posts about spongy mags.. As I put the mags in the gun had that mushy feeling as well...It had occured over time..Started watching the mag mechanics of locking and unlocking, and down inside the mag chamber in the receiver I discovered the locking mechanism, that unlocks the mag, when you press the release button. No I had not cleaned it since I bought the gun, or lubed it...Although I had taken the mags apart and cleaned..Cleaned the locking mechanism, and lubed it, and it was amazing how the mags just snapped in, loaded or unloaded...Took it to the range late last night and fire a 100 rounds through it...NO PROBLEMS.... I have always shot revolvers to this point in my life, but I'm gonna get the hang of these semi autos...

    .22lr blanks

Discharging any kind of firearm down in Houston, in a just for the hell of it type situation, is BAD NEWS down here.. A friend of a friend, of a friend..Well you get the idea. Just did 90 days in the Montgomery County jail, for getting drunk and decided it would be a good idea to shoot one shot out of his 12 guage in a rural area. The lady who lived about a 1/4 mile away called the police, and said someone was shooting at her. No questions asked, threw the cuffs on, and 90 days reckless endangerment with a firearm..I'd be very, very careful if I were you.. P.S. Firearms and alcohol are NEVER a good mix...People have been killed by blanks clowning around. Put the gun to their head pull the trigger, and the wadding and shockwave is sufficient to kill in the right circumstances... And then there's the story of Terry Kath. (Lead Guitarist for the group Chicago)...Clowning around while drunk, pulled a 9mm semi, stuck it to his head and ended his life..Assuring all who were in attendance that the gun was unloaded, before he pulled the trigger..
  19. A little over 600 rounds..But as Drew pointed out all of it is target round stuff. I'll pop another 5 or 600 through it and keep an eye on it..Thanks guys... 8) (In Retrospect I've popped around 2500 rounds of 9mm through the Beretta, and not one problem from out of the box to this point. Did I mention I love this gun...LOL..)
  20. Thanks!!! 8)
  21. I shot 100 rounds of standard Winchester target loads through it... Shot around 300 rounds of the same stuff with no problem..... Have shot 500 round of Remington UMC target stuff, and had a couple of hangs with that as well...Maybe I'm getting paranoid, but I've come to the conclusion, that if the gun aint 100% reliable, how good is it really??? While at the range I brought my old S&W 38 special revolver, and it shoots just as well and reliable as when I bought it 30 some odd years ago. From a range of about 10 feet and closer, that little 38 snub nose is just as good as it gets..Simple, easy, dependable..I'm getting the same way with Beretta's since I just started Semi-Autos a few months ago. But it bugs me when the FNP hangs...Got it in small pieces and cleaning as I type..
  22. I took out my Storm again this weekend and ran 1000 rounds through it. This gun is so reliable I don't even think about it. Not one Stove Pipe, misfeed, misfire...NOTHING...Just mag after mag, light recoil, easy to see sights, and easy to reaquire target. It's just like my little NEOS. I'm coming to the conclusion that Beretta makes on hell of a handgun...
  23. Drew...What did you find out about your FNP45? I've shot another 200 rounds this weekend, and it worked flawlessly once again...With one exception. One bullet when being sent to the barrell and out the mag, got hung up on the receiver on the barrell. Couldn't release the mag..It was dead stuck. Stuck a pocket knife in there and helped the bullet in the barell. Basically just touched it and flew out of the mag...Only real problem I have had, but it bugs me. The more I get into this stuff, I'm figuring it out you want your gun to work everytime... Am going to take all 3 mags apart, as well as the gun and do a thourough cleaning. Try it again and see where we're at..
  24. Very cool...Me and my son go everytime as well. Good stuff!!! 8)
