  1. Excellent ideas guys... Thanks for your input. Am going to do a little more research, but I'm leaning toward the concealed safe thing, and making damn sure the safe's tied down, if they figure it out..
  2. Welcome aboard!! 8)
  3. I'm beginning to think, I need a safe. My previous house in Dallas, had a built in heavy duty gun cabinet. Cabinet was secured by 2 heavy duty Schlage Dead Bolts, once you opened decorative oak cabinet front. 1st look you wouldn't even know there was a gun cabinet behind the door. After reading this thread, I'm beginning to see the wisdom of doing something similar, or just buying a stand alone safe. Would be a shame to have my fire arms wind up in the hands of criminals. (Thinking about a regular gun cabinet, laying it horizontally on the floor, frame it in, and put oak cabinetry around it, thereby disguising it...)... So I'm curious what you guys thoughts are on securing, and how you are doing. Safes?, Cabinets?..Something else?? As of present I've got my rifles and shotguns sitting in a closet, and with the exception of my carry piece, everything else sits on a coffee table next to my bed. Pistols, Ammo, everything..No... I do not have small children. I do know that the present situation is not a good one, so I'm looking for ideas. (Like Asmurff, I've got a few stashed around in strategic places as well)..
  4. Exactly.. I love my 45, but $100 for 250 rounds, just takes a little of the fun out of it. And the 40 S&W aint much better. Generally just bring my 22 and my 9 to the range, and find I just have a blast, and am not too freaked out about the cost...Love it... Welcome aboard.. Glad to have you!!! 8)
  5. The NFL won today...Go Texans... So will try it probaly tuesday... Attached a pic of the PLR as it stands right now. I'm really looking forward to installing the Fore End..... Accesories??? For End has 4 rails, Plus one on top of the pistol. I'm thinking laser (short shots) Red Dot..(Longer shot), and a flashlight.. What do you guys think. What would you add or delete, and the types of configuration. Red Dot on top, Laser on side?...Etc..

    Food Stamps

Part of LBJ's "Great Society" legislation passed in the 60's. The idea was a good one. A working model in the real world, failed to understand basic human nature. Basically how can I turn a benefit for the truly needy, to a scam for those not in need at all. And with all the scammers out there. My heart breaks when I see the little old lady at the checkout stand with only cat food, and pay for it with cash. Too proud to take charity. In the mean time, an entire family loads up, pays with the WIC card, and then hauls it out to their new pick up.
  8. Did you get a concealment holster??? ;D
  9. Pistol is in my possesion with extra Mag  I am waiting for the forend and the strap coming in ground from Kel Tec. But I couldn't stand it... Took it back to the house, disassembled it, cleaned and lubed, And have both magazines loaded to capacity. Right as I was about to go to the range and try this puppy out.... The wife reminds me about the hardwood floor we're supposed to look at. What could I say? "Okay, Let's go.." (Do women do this crap on purpose? ;D) Anyway, taking it out tomorow after the game, and I'll let you guys know how it shoots.. I'll post some pics after I get the rest of the stuff from Kel-Tec and get it installed... BTW...This is no easy to disassembe Glock thing...Think more like disassembling you NEOS the 1st time..
  10. Thanks MadHouse. I thought about the Bayou City club, but that's a pretty good little cruise, from my place. I'm giving PSC another month or so, and if they haven't opened up new membership by then, I'll bite the bullet and make the drive to Bayou.. Thanks for the update..
  11. ;D Talk about an unpopular guy at the wrong venue... Was at the range tonight. About 15, 20 guys. As soon as the president started his speech, the booing and hissing was unaimous..Myself included..If he's counting on the NRA crowd for re-election, Of which I'm a proud member....he's doomed.. ;D
  12. Good job. 8)..That's what CHL is all about!!! Don't you wish somebody would have been carrying and as alert as you guys, in the IHOP incident this week...
  13. Well....... PLR22 is here..The holdup is the extra mag I ordered. It will be here Friday, so I will go over to Gary's and pick both up at that time. In the mean time my fore end and strap have arrived from Kel Tec... Note to self.. When ordering through Gun Genie, just get the firearm. Even though myself and the Gun Genie dealer tried to get the mag and the PLR22 thrown in the same shipment, they shipped the PLR overnight, and the Mag via ground. And basically after the tax and shipping I saved $2.00 on the mag. Dealing with Gun Genie dealer Gary Garza on this, and he's been extremely helpful. Thought I'd pass it along to the Houston contingent, for consideration of future purchases.. http://garzafirearms.com/default.aspx So...Saturday I should be at the range with my 2, 27 round mags, strap, fore end installed and be in plinker heaven...(Damn you Drew...I did look into the drum mag's for this thing, but the most capacity I found was 50...I was hoping for 500..)
  14. That is cool... 8) Read the comments on Youtube. The one that best describes me.. That's the dumbest thing i've ever seen. I'll buy twelve :D

My nephew has the XD 40, and I"ve shot it. Great gun..

  17. Those are pretty cool. 8) I like the Gatling Gun concept, especially the non nfa stuff. Mine will be here Wednesday due to the holiday. Got 2 extra clips. Still...After searching around I haven't found a 22LR quick loader for 22lr mags based on an AR Mag. As Microgunner pointed out it's the same gun as the PLR16 (223), except the PLR22 is 22lr. And that goes all the way to the mags. So you've got the AR style mag, but for 22. Anybody Know of quick loader for that contraption???(I figured Bushnell with their 223 to 22 LR conversion might have something , but struck out there)...I guess everyone's handloading these mags???
  18. Looks like MORE than a ton..

    Now that is nice!!! 8)
  20. Most of those Luthier guys, are the nicest people in the world, and I'm glad he contacted you. Just think of the hours, time and materials to make a guitar completely by hand, and to do it well enough, that world renown players want that guitar. Glad to hear you got some numbers to work with. Now Drew...Doesn't have a classical guitar. He's the one who needs one to add to the herd.. ;D
  21. Thanks MadHouse!!! I'll check them out 8)
  22. Okay...I may have to order the PLR Compact Forend from Kel-Tek.. http://www.keltecweapons.com/product/plr-compact-forend/ Any of you guys have any ideas about speed loaders for these AR to 22lr mags... I can see already the fun factor kicking in, and 1000's of rounds going through this thing. If a speed loader is available, would probably save my thumbs. Ideas?? BTW MicroGunner...That 556 version definitely rocks...Cool gun!!! 8)
  23. Yep...Ready to go, and my usual luck holds up.. PSC has closed new membership until further notice....Damn... http://www.psc-range.com/ From what I gather the 1st time they've done it, and they wait to do it when I want to join.. ???
  24. Whose killing who??? BTW..Just ordered the forend and the extra mag as well. Probably wont be here until Wednesday due to the holiday.. Now... It's close to tactical 22. Am I at least a probationary member now..
  25. Good Stuff!!
