imschur Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 I have reached the point where I receive too many email through the contact pages of my sites and I have had to draw the line and ask folks to join the forums. For starters you cant imagine the volume. Then there's the messages from the clearly insane. I have folks asking about orders they placed with me. That one I can almost let go at my ar15 site as the former domain owner of the .com was a store and there is a similar named store currently. But jeez don't folks know who they buy stuff from or worse where they sent a weapon? Then their the really nice messages with kudos and constructive criticism. The real difficulty is the question who's answer I do not know that I end up spending an hour or two figuring out.Problem is I feel guilty for not answering messages or forgetting as I really do want to respond to everyone.Do you guys think it's harmful to my sites to ask folks to join the forum to get questions answered?
Microgunner Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Ah, the heavy price of popularity. Joining is the most reliable way to reasearch their needs.
imschur Posted February 5, 2011 Author Report Posted February 5, 2011 I don't think its popularity. The amount of emails is not proportionate to the traffic increase over the years. It's more like someone wrote on a bathroom wall.I forgot to mention that some messages also smell like big brother being fishy. I actually started saving every email C:-)
Alfa One Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 I see no harm in asking people to join your sites. Many people may learn as well from their questions.

asmurff Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 I agree they should join, many questions apply to many of us who sometimes just hadn't thought to ask, plus everyone brings some experience, some vast amounts of experience and knowledge.
