imschur Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 The LAX datacenter that hosts our database is experiencing a denial of service attack. This is affecting site performance significantly.
rodent.22 Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 would you define this term for us techno-challenged old codgers? ;D
imschur Posted September 30, 2011 Author Report Posted September 30, 2011 Basically the datacenter that holds the servers gets a flood of traffic in an attempt overload the system and bring it down. Think of trying to catch niagara falls in a dixie cup
Longitude Zero Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Warrior Talk's hostings company got hit last weekend.
imschur Posted September 30, 2011 Author Report Posted September 30, 2011 We are pummeled on my sites continuosly by all sorts of bad guys. I have banned most of the world. Starting to see a lot from USA now. The DOS was aimed at the LAX datacenter and not us thankfully. My wordpress blogs are underconstant attack.
Microgunner Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Anti-gunners or just joy riding hackers or?
imschur Posted September 30, 2011 Author Report Posted September 30, 2011 In our case It's anonymous. Google has a database of security flaws that the bad guys take advantage of. The bots just bounce from blog to blog or forum to forum searching for the known vulnerabilities.
George Wood Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 They are the scourge of the information world.
