National right-to-carry legislation to be voted on tomorrow.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is encouraging all sportsmen, gun owners and firearms enthusiasts to contact their representative and urge him/her to support H.R. 822 — legislation that would help protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners and enable millions of concealed carry permit holders to exercise their right to self-defense while traveling outside their home states.

Over the past 25 years, many states have passed concealed carry legislation that made it legal to possess firearms for self-defense. H.R. 822 would mark a major step forward for gun owners’ rights by significantly expanding where those permits are recognized. Currently, there is a patchwork of laws across the country that presents challenges and confusion to those willing to defend themselves and their families.

I've been badgering my Representative for quite some time about this bill. Whether he'll vote for it or not remains to be seen, he never responses to emails or letter except to say he go them, the worthless piece of feces.

And if universal CHL is now law, what does that do to those mag capacity laws like in California???

Time to start getting after the Senators weekly, if it passes by a big enough margin there maybe Obozo won't veto it. Personally I believe we'll have to wait till we get a real president not a Soros puppet to get this as a law.

I think you'd still have to abide by mag cap laws and where you can carry by state, which is how it is with the current recipricol agreements between states now.

We have the 50% law down here. If a business derives 50% or more of their income from alcohol sales it is a verboten to carry in a bar.

Don't know if it's a good idea to carry in a bar..

On the other hand..

In my youth I was playing a gig in an ice house. Kind of a slow crowd. During the break, I'm talking it up with the audience and the owner and the subject of firearms came up. The owner pulled out his sawed off double barrell from behind the bar. Next thing you know all the patrons start pulling their pieces and comparing them. I'm asked to comment from time to time, and I'm "Like yeah man..That's cool"...

Then the thought hit me...

"Damn...I'm the only SOB in this entire joint that aint packing!!!"...

So maybe carrying in a bar is a good thing, just to make sure everybody's on equal footing... :laugh:

If I was going to a bar I wouldn't even take one with me, since 1 drink and the gun will cost you your permit in NM. It has been over 2 years since I went to a bar to drink, it was in the hotel I was staying at. NM is still working on the restaurant carry thing. If they serve only beer and wine it is okay, I only know of one place it applies. I believe if you're going out to eat and don't drink alcohol you should be able to carry. If we do I lock up my pistol in the lock boxes in whichever vehicle we take, then reholster when we leave.

Finding and learning the laws per state is difficult. If you look at the NM website it won't give all the where and where not.

I wouldn't carry in a bar either...

That one incident just struck me as funny.

It's a felony in Texas to carry in a bar, but that whole danm bar was evidently full of felons and I was the only one that wasn't...

I mean what's the old saying..

"If you don't have a firearm we will issue you one at the door"... :laugh:
