techmike Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I used to have a GSG1911, and really liked it. But, since I saw an ad for the GSG-922, had to have it. Just picked it up yesterday, had to order it from Gun Genie. Hope to get to the range this weekend, maybe after the gun show.
Microgunner Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I've been looking at these. How do you like it so far and what's it constructed of?
techmike Posted November 8, 2013 Author Report Posted November 8, 2013 It's made from your favorite, Zamak, :P with steel inserts where they apparently need to be, and an aluminum slide. Just taking it apart for the first time, seems to be well made, as expected with GSG. It has black plastic checkered grips, I will be looking for wooden ones at the gun show tomorrow. Range trip after that. It also has a magazine safety which if removed is supposed to improve the trigger pull. Or so I have been told.
asmurff Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 That would be the prefect trainer for the Citadel 3.5" 1911 I carry.
techmike Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks, got to the range today, it shoots great. Ran some Federal target & BVAC HP through it with one fail to feed after about 100 rounds. Started with point of impact just a bit left of center, but it has an adjustable rear sight, one click to the right and all is good. Picked up a set of wood grips at the gun show yesterday, to replace the black plastic ones. This one is a keeper.
techmike Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 Just ordered some new magazine followers that allow +4 rounds per mag. Also work in the GSG1911, as it uses the same mags.
Microgunner Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Damn! How big a follower do they put in those mags?
techmike Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 They are big enough to limit the mags to 10 rounds, which by strange coincidence makes them "California Compliant".
