Glowin
Hi Guys,Due to pick up an M4 Ops on Wednesday but I'm getting cold feet namely in the form of the M&P15-22.What are people opinions on here? I like that the M4 is metal but don't mind polymer too much as my old Walther G22 was the same. I do like that the bolt release works on the M&P but over here in the UK the only place selling the M&P is asking £650 (just over $1000) compared to £575 (just under $900). And £75 for a working bolt release seems pretty heavy.I don't know what to do!CheersGlowin
Alfa One
Strangely enough it is the other way around here in Belgium in terms of prices.I held both guns in my hands before i decided. I felt for the looks and the finish of the M4 Ops. The S&W didn't have enough details (even though the ones on the M4 Ops are not all functional). rodent.22
I own the M4OPS and really like it. It is picky about the ammo it digests. Federal and Winchester do fine. It will probably require a break-in period of several hundred rounds, Walther cuts a match-sized chamber in these barrels and out of spec ammo ( read cheap) doesn't feed well. I can lay mine in a group of .223/556 AR's and it cannot be picked out by looks, weight or feel. The magazine is a dead giveaway, the 30 rounder really stands out. I also own the Smith & Wesson M&P 15/22 pistol, which has the identical upper and lowers as the rifle. So far it has been totally trouble free, and shoots ANY ammo I stuff in it. The polymer construction is very robust, all controls crisp. However it is not a complete lookalike as is the all- metal Colt. Grab ahold of both and buy the one that makes you smile....
Longitude Zero
The Colt is a bit different in construction and internal operation. Try them both and buy what you like.

techmike
I understand the S&W is a fine rifle. I have not fired one, but have held one. I am kinda partial to the Colt.TM :thumb:
shoota40
I purchased the colt. I like it but hate the heavy trigger pull. My only complaint.

techmike
http://triggerwork.net/index.htmlBill does great work! I sent my Colt's trigger assy to Bill, (he lives in Colorado Springs), and I think he turned it around in three days. I payed shipping to him, the job cost $45, and he pays return shipping. The pull on my Colt is now between 4.5 and 4 lbs. HERE is how to remove the trigger assembly.TM :thumb:
