  1. a bullet doesn't know what sort of gun fired it, the design, if reliable, means nothing. The goal has been met- the firing of the bullet. All else is personal preference or convenience for the shooter. The Umarex designs do work, being German the design is overly complex and weird, but thats to be expected with German engineering. Not a criticism of the Germans- just an observation. I'll keep my M4 also....I've got 10 grand in accessories.
  2. Give us an in-depth description of ''sanding the magazine''.
  3. my last outing with winchester was a dismal failure, a new box did nothing but jam over and over. No more of these for me in my Colt.

  5. TM- now THAT'S FUNNY!!!!
  6. All right!!!!
  7. None whatsoever, the 2'' chop didn't affect it at all. It really turned it into an aggressive-looking mini, I think. I built this before Ruger came out with their tactical model, about 90 days later they started hitting the shelves.
  8. Tal I have an '08 580 series (tapered barrel) model. Originally wood stocked 18'' barrel. I installed the ATI tactical stock, shortened the barrel to 16'', threaded the barrel and installed a Phantom flash suppressor; a Propoint red/green dot scope; removed the iron sights; and fabricated an aluminum barrel schroud. With a 30 round mag this rifle is a blast to shoot, and is absolutely lethal. A chest-sized target at 100 yards is NO problem at all. The operating system is tried and true, a 3/4 sized M-14, hence the name. I also camo'd the wooden stock, and switch them back and forth as the mood strikes. An AR is nice, but the mini is an equal arm ,only a different system of design....
  9. Any AR barrel accessory will screw on the barrel, it's 1/2X28 thread.

  19. the .22 cartridge is rimmed, loading without detensioning the stack of shells in the magazine sometimes causes the shells to stack badly, which in turn causes misfeeds. Thumbing the button slightly when loading enables you to insure the proper staggering of the rounds.

  24. Imagine shooting 3-4 hundred rounds daily thru a cheap shotgun. About a weeks worth of shooting and the action would be worn out. These guns actions and materials are superior to a normal shotgun. Longevity is usually superb. The old guns you see restored usually function quite well, just the stock and finish are gone....
  25. Welcome, Native Texan here....Burkburnett, Stephenville, & Cleburne.
