  9. yeah Smurff it's an hour and a half south of D.C. on I-81 in Lexington, Va. Well between the Buffalo Bill museum in Cody, Wy and this VMI museum, the NRA museum near D.C. is next. I've seen so many great and unique firearms in the last year my head is still spinning....LOL :o
  10. great!! :thumb:
  11. I like that lettering!
  12. TM Here is a couple of pictures, the Bond .45/.410 I added for scale. The Llamas were not rough guns, my Minimax is matte finished.
  13. Fellas my OPS # BP024XXX bought new in June '09 has a TIGHT pin when the flash suppressor is tight. The suppressor must be loosened to remove the pin. I've taken photos of my rifle in case there are any obvious differences. The first photo shows the rear pin, very simple, no detent ball. The second photo shows the pin hole with the suppressor loose, both inner holes and the outer holes are evenly aligned, letting the pin to be easily removed. The third photo shows the pin hole with the suppressor tightened. If you look closely you can see the inner hole (silver color) is pulled slightly forward which locks the rear pin in place when installed. The fourth photo shows the upper pin holes with the pin in place. It is quite a loose fit. The fifth photo shows the pin in the lower reciever, a tighter fit but still easy to push out. The sixth photo shows the pin installed, and it sticks out about 1/8''. The flash suppressor only moves the barrel extension forward about a .0001 or so, not much. If the face (forward) surface of the barrel extension is dirty or carbon buildup is present on this area it will prevent the barrel extension from pulling forward enough to tension the pin. It has to be that the upper and the barrel extension are prevented from seating together by dirt or debris. the barrel extension is not soft enough to elongate the inner holes, besides the upper and barrel will bottom out before the hole could be stretched over that .0001 th or so....Just my 2 cents worth.
  14. WAYWAY too MUCH info..... :P
  15. I've got a minimax .45 that uses the double stack mags. Bought it new, shoots great.

  18. Me & the bride stayed in Lexington, Va this weekend for our 40th anniversary. I saw a sign at the visitors center about the VMI Museum firearms display, donated by an alumni of the school. It is one of the largest collections of cased Patterson Colts in the country. Numerous cased Revolving rifles are also in the collection. This is WORTH seeing if you are within travelling distance. SORRY cell phone pictures.....
