The magpul stocks are real nice, I like the open look of the stocks, but I simply don't want to spend anymore money on guns or mods at this time. So a little trimout was in order. The triangular section to be removed is drilled at each corner with a Unibit, remember the corner radius of the opening is determined by the size hole you drill at each corner. Once the three holes are drilled, score the area to be removed with a razor knife from hole to hole. Score each line about 1/2 way thru the plastic. Then take the pliers and break the piece out. It's pretty tough, be very patient and it will come out fairly clean. Then take a razor knife with a NEW blade and trim the hole cleanly. It don't look too bad....

Hi guys. Many complaints have been directed towards adjustable stocks being ''loose'' and ''rattly''. This is true of the Colt/Umarex as well as many other brands. I have come up with a fix that is cheap, easily done and has excellent results. Tools needed are a small pair of pliers (needle nose or duckbill), scissors, adjustable razor knife, unibit or 5/16'' drill bit, and a set of gun files ( flat and rattail). Materials needed are a roll of Oatley plastic hanger strap, 3/4'' X 10', about $3.00 at Lowes in the plumbing dept. This is grey plastic, flexible with a smooth non-stick surface that can be easily cut with scissors and final sanded with sandpaper. Start out by removing the stock, pull it all the way back, still holding the adjusting lever down use a screwdriver to pry the lever a little further down while pulling the stock off the tube. Measure the width of the lock ridge on the tube and cut the grey strapping ever so slightly narrower so it fits snugly inside the stock lock slot. Next cut the length so the strip is the same length as the stock inside. Next press the strip of strapping in place so the lock pin ''marks'' the proper location of the hole for the lock pin to function. Remove the strapping and drill/cut/file the hole. Make it slightly oversize so the pin won't jam when operating the lever. Now assemble to check for clearance. If too tight lay out a piece of #180 grit sandpaper on a flat surface and lightly sand the grey strip to the best thickness to permit smooth operation. A drop of gun oil will smooth it up....The last 1/2'' or so of the grey strip can be trimmed off so it doesn't show in side the stock when it is collapsed fully. !0 to 20 minutes tops for this mod...

Anyone here with the Colt experienced any out of battery firings during rapid fire? I haven't read of a single one anywhere. The S&W 15-22 evidently must be having a real problem with this, according to the number of posts generated on S&W forum.com. Looks like there's one thing the Colt can't be bashed on.....LOL WEAR THOSE SHOOTING GLASSES!!!

S&W Forum.com has numerous posts about the 15-22 firing out of battery. This could really do some eye and/or hand damage. Make certain to wear safety glasses with this firearm....if interested look in the long gun section.

In the early 80's the actual Thompson in .22 was available, I looked at a new one in a gun shop in Hampton, Va with a retail of $375.00. WAY out of my price range with 2 small kids at home.....I wouldn't mind having one of these!
