Cleaning the BoreSnake is easy and should be done frequently. Simply wad it up into a dirty sock and throw it in with the wash. Comes out like new. You can buy a cone shaped bore guide for the muzzle when forced to clean this way.
Can anyone recommend a good leather forward cant pancake style holster for the EMP. The single loop Galco I use allows the pistol to tilt out too much for easy CCW. I don't like IWB holsters.
You didn't mess yourself when things started snapping and popping did you? Good. ;D Glad you've faired well and we all hope for a speedy recovery from the damage.
The Colt utilizes a tension barrel setup. Tension barrels have been used successively on rifles to improve accuracy while reducing weight. Example: Volquartsen tension barrels. I believe Umarex went in this direction to reduce muzzle weight while keeping the M4 barrel profile. This will make the rifle easier to shoulder for shooters of smaller stature.
I like red dot sights on ARs. I have an EoTech on my 5.56 and a Bushnell Holosight (same manufacturer as EoTech except without the armor plating) on my .22lr AR. Like Techmike, my practice rifle has the same sight picture as my 5.56.
I think that would greatly increase your mounting options. Remember though, every additional layer added to the scope mounting system reduces strength and stability, although I doubt it will be of any measurable concern in this application.
I installed a 3# Timney trigger into my S&W M&P-15T lower and my CMMG Sierra .22 upper refused to work. After sharpening the firing pin and cutting 1.5 coils from the CMMG's firing pin return spring, all was well.
This is such a cool gun and I really wanted one but I'm afraid that Zamak is off my shopping list from now on if I can help it. I'll live vicariously through you though. Keep the reports coming.
