I've owned two. A 617 4" six shot and a 617 8.375" six shot and both were beautiful revolvers. The 8.375" had very tight chambers that required cleaning every 20-30 rounds before the empties began sticking. I now own three k framed .22lr revolvers and all three shoot rings around the 617s. A mod 17 8.375" a mod 17 6" and a mod 18 4". The barrels are just too heavy on the 617s IMO.
It's them damned hidden compartments that are causing all the problems. I bought a 1964 Impala in 1971 and after driving it 6 months I discovered a factory hidden compartment in the console. You opened it by pushing down on the front of the console. Don't drive any '64 Impalas through Ohio.
