  4. I had my pre interview tests and interview with the TDCJ and passed them all i had to do was send off my English college diploma to be put in to U.S. collage semester hours, i received the email i had been waiting for last week and i faxed it off to the HR dept and today i had a phone call from The Texas dept of Criminal Justice, they basicly phoned with a job offer and i now have my starting date and the date from my fitness test so for 5 and a half weeks iam not going to be around much,in the state of Texas corrections officers are L.E.O.s. Well the recruiter said iam the first Englishman he has had apply :o
  5. Thanks for the advise Hoss :thumb: Iam looking at making a hunting rifle out of a mosin and there seems to be a lot you can do with them i have seen them on gunbroker.com for as little as $30 up to $200 which for a rifle is quite cheap, but i want it for more of a challenge i haven't made a hunting rifle or any rifle before and i think it will be a good learning curve and i cant wait to start. The parts arnt that expensive i have seen a replacement bent bolt body is $65 and the hunting stock is about the same and then just the scope mount as i want to use it as a hunting rifle, iam going to get a 3 point drill n bolt scope mount which is the Cadillac of the scope mounts is $95 so all in all its going to be a good rifle to take wildboar and anything else ;D
  6. I didn't know that hunting with FMJ's was banned to be honest ill check what the law here in Texas is, i was thinking that an fmj would do a through and through and carry on its merry journey if i hunted with it and may be do some harm down range, at the moment i don't have a loading press but iam looking at learning to reload ammo but that's a way off at the moment but i was just thinking ahead and wanted to know if anyone else had the same idea or had done it. :thumb: thanks for the advise ;D

  12. When we go to the mail i have people staring at me ''because i don't sound like a local when i talk'' so i have got in to the habit of stopping talking when i get near within earshot of anyone and it really bugs the better half :o, and yes i have noticed that myself but i just ignore them as they seem to be a waist of space.

  15. Should have said i dont give tips for burned food :thumb: well i dont think ill be eating there any time but thanks for the warning :o
  16. It actually takes about 2 mins to strip it down and get the bolt out once you get the hang of its a piece of cake, i keep saying i wish i could have got something else but i think its all the mods and bits you can get for the M4 style rifles more than the rifle itself, but i do like it and i have put about 5000 rounds through it in about 6 months and its a dam good rifle. which website did you get the photo from ? iam always looking at bits to buy for mine :P
  17. Hey rodent i wouldn't expect bad things like that to be to be said about the colt/umarex i have looked at an M4 ops in a gun store and thought i wish i had brought that instead of the GSG AK47 (which i own) now that needs Allen keys and a screw driver and a few odds n ends to just get the bolt out, the stock has to be unscrewed, then an Allen bolt holds the stock mounting plate which has to be removed, then another Allen bolt holds the top cover catch in place which has to be removed, then then there is a end plate which slides out towards the top and try and not scrape the scope sitting on the scope mount then pop out the trigger group which pulls towards the rear of the frame then you can get the bolt carrier out. now if they wanna complain about it so much they shouldn't go and use the dam thing, i like them and want to get one some day.
  18. It looks really nice :thumb:
  19. cool guys good job
  20. Did you see the 2 WW1 trench knifes on pawn starts on the history channel ? one had a triangular blade looked like one mean knife and i wouldn't want to be stabbed with it.
  21. Iam looking at buying a mosin nagent rifle in the near future and i want to make a hunting rifle out of it and have been looking at an idea of buying east europeen spam can ammo (440 rounds) 7.62x54 if i got a bullet puller to remove some of the fmj bullets and put in a hunting bullets in with a press, i am having trouble finding a good hunting load as silver tip ptfmj lead/steel core might not be appreciated round these parts, i think they would be more for the battlefield.
  22. But funny :o ok ill get my coat :thumb:
