Madhouse Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I just picked up a Savage Model 93 in .17HMR from GunBroker.I've shot my buddy's left-hand 93 a few times and really liked it. I also just ordered a BSA Sweet 17 scope from MidwayUSA and a box of 500 rounds from AmmunitionToGo.com. :sniper:
imschur Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I shoot a buddies, its a savage too but I havent a clue on the model. Freaking laser accurate.
Madhouse Posted September 22, 2009 Author Report Posted September 22, 2009 Yeah, it is a seriously flat trajectory.
imschur Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 my buddy plays sniper with turkeys by going for head shots
Madhouse Posted September 24, 2009 Author Report Posted September 24, 2009 The rifle shipped today, the ammo shipped today, the scope shipped Monday. :sniper:
imschur Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 The rifle shipped today, the ammo shipped today, the scope shipped Monday. :sniper: your going to love it
Microgunner Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Don't own a .17HMR but I do own (3) .17HM2's. A CZ 452 Varmint, a Volquartsen Standard and an Anschutz 1702. Them little 17's are fun.
Madhouse Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 I'm putting the scope on now... :thumb:
imschur Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I'm putting the scope on now... :thumb: Great news!!
Madhouse Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 Damn scope rings were too short (mediums). The scope bell hit the barrel. A buddy is bringing me some tall mounts, we're supposed to take this thing out to zero it in the morning.
imschur Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 looks nice.... Its funny even with the ammo shortage the 17 is always on the shelf locally here.
Madhouse Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 Man, there was a Camp Perry small bore clinic going on at the range, got up at 7:00 to go shooting before class today and couldn't even zero my shiny new rifle. >:( >:(
Madhouse Posted September 27, 2009 Author Report Posted September 27, 2009 I'm sure the gun is capable of way better than I can shoot.
asmurff Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 I'd say that is pretty good for an out of the box rifle, scope and mounts. What distance and other info on your first day.
Madhouse Posted September 27, 2009 Author Report Posted September 27, 2009 I put that target out at 75 yards with the turkeys on the silhouette range. I used a bag to rest on, but did much better when I used my buddy's full-rest setup for a couple of shots. I need to get a better setup now with a rifle that freaking accurate.I was shooting Hornady 17gr V-Max ammo.
Madhouse Posted October 17, 2009 Author Report Posted October 17, 2009 I put 5 shots inside an inch yesterday at 100 yards (it's amazing what proper rest bags will do for you). This is a seriously accurate little varmint gun.
Microgunner Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 And they're fun for pest control because you can see the impact through the scope.
asmurff Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Here is another case of us causing each other to go broke.
imschur Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Here is another case of us causing each other to go broke.no doubt

Madhouse Posted December 12, 2009 Author Report Posted December 12, 2009 I put a bi-pod on it last week, need a little relief from the rain so I can get back out to the range with it.
FS2KSTD Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Long range "nail gun" there ... looking good with the new legs! :thumb:
