imschur
Do any of you guys know if theres a particular rope that will hold up to the elements? I was thinking of switching to stainless wire rope but its pricey and tough on tree limbs
Microgunner
What's this bird feeders' name and kinda harsh punishment for just feeding birds. Damn, you guys are strict in Connecticut. Seriously though, you might try tow rope.http://www.amazon.com/Kwik-Tek-AHTR-50-Airhead-Yellow/dp/B0016JCAKW

asmurff
I had plain white nylon rope up for over 2 years with a big knot in the end for the dogs to play with. Sergeant Schultz as a puppy would literally swing on it.
rodent.22
We use Dollar tree bungee cords- always good for 1 year and cheap to replace....work good for hummingbird feeders too.
techmike
I use straight 100% copper wire. A nice, good solid electrical connection to the metal bird feeder, and an electric fence transformer at the other end with a handy switch makes for so much winter fun with the squirrels! imschur
I like squirrels. I have actually trained the squirrels to come when I call. I feed them peanuts by hand. Occasionally when Im leaving for work a squirrel will come running out of nowhere, jump up on my truck and stare at me through the windshield. There's also a squirrel that hangs around with and plays with one of my cats. Its hysterical.
Cyclone
I used a roll of 14GA wire I had lying around and clamped some vise grips to it and then threw the wire over a limb waaay up in an effort to keep squirrels from eating all the seed. They do however slide down the wire head first to the feeder. "Lil Bastards"Oh and I like Squirrels too....lightly breaded and pan fried
imschur
I should mention that the driver for this question was the purchase of a new feeder called the "Roller Feeder"
techmike
I have a neighbor that has all but domesticated much of the local squirrel population. Last summer I was working in the garage with the door up. Had a weird feeling that I was being watched, and since crime is not unheard of in Toledo, I took a grip on my CC weapon and turned towards the door - there were two squirrels IN my garage looking for food.... I do not like rodents with sharp teeth. Except, of course, as Cyclone posted "lightly breaded and pan fried". I like them in a stew.....TMPS to Cyclone - let's trade recipes!
