M96SS Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I'm about to take my Colt apart to send the trigger pack in for an upgrade, has anyone already done this and how did it turn out?
rodent.22 Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 keep us posted, I've heard of it but haven't seen any results...
M96SS Posted April 21, 2010 Author Report Posted April 21, 2010 I will, I'll probably send it out Thursday after I hear back from Bill. I really can't do any 'scientific' testing but I can probably describe it by a 'seat of the pants' feeling. I usually run about 300-400 rounds through the Colt in any one session and I can really feel it in my hand by the end. I can do the same in my work rifle and not nearly feel as 'tired'.
techmike Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Please let us know - my Colt/Um M-4 measures 10.5 lb trigger pull - after honing. I put a lighter spring in the trigger and it went full auto. Thanks!TM
techmike Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Sending my trigger pack to Bill tomorrow - $49.00, and that includes return shipping. I will report upon it's return.TM
Microgunner Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Let us know how it comes out. God knows the little Colt can use some trigger help.
techmike Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Let us know how it comes out. God knows the little Colt can use some trigger help. How true - I put the trigger group in the vise before I packaged it, and measured 8.25 lbs pull... Grrrrr.TM
rodent.22 Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 TM did you ever get your trigger group back?
techmike Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Hey Buddy, I just sent it out today, USPS Priority. Hope to get it back in a 7 to 10 days. (I hate to open the one gun safe - poor little M-4 in pieces).TM
raiders Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Did you get any kind of specs of what he can do to the trigger? Or is just going to be for trigger pull?
techmike Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 My understanding is that he stones & hones. For $49 I will go for it and see what happens. TM

techmike Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Loved ones in the hospital is so hard :oSo true - thanks for understanding! :thumb:TM
techmike Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 My trigger has arrived at Bill's place in Colorado Springs.TM
raiders Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I am sending my trigger pack in tomorrow. Here is what Bill emailed me when I asked what he did the the trigger group. I slightly modify 2 internal springs, polish and adjust the hammer sear angles. :thumb: When I asked what the trigger pull would be this is what he replied. It averages 4.5 to 5lbs, I try to get the best pull out of it that I can. :P I hope this helps anyone thinking about doing the trigger job form Bill. I know TM should get his back sometime this week. Bill said the turnaround is 3 to 5 days. Good luck :thumb:
techmike Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Trigger returned! The pull is now measuring between 4.5 and 4.75 lbs - much much better than is was! Getting ready to put the Colt back together. Range report to follow.TM
techmike Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 All back together - dry fire is very promising! No creep, slowly increase pressure, then all of a sudden it breaks, very crisp. Can't wait to get it out to the range!TM
raiders Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Yes Bill gets my trigger tomorrow so I should have it back by next weekend for shooting. Thanks for the update TM
techmike Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Best $49 I have spent in a while! Well worth it, shoots much more consistently. I may actually try some quality ammo in it now....TM :thumb:
