  1. If I remember correctly, the last bayonet charge by the US Military was in the Korean War, somewhere on or near what is now Osan AB. Charge was done by the army I believe.
  2. Quick question for recent Army or Marine vets, do they still issue bayonets?
  3. On impluse last week I purchased a M7 bayonet for the M16/AR-15 rifle, not that I really wanted it for ST-15 from Spike's Tactical, but because I like knives and bayonets in particular.
  4. I'm a firm believer in CCI Min-Mags and Federal Auto Match. I've had very little problem with either over the years. I shot CCI in my tricked out tacticool 10/22 during the Tactical Rimfire Matches. For my Buckmark Federal Auto Match as always worked well in both plinking and the few times I've used it to compete. I've also been using it to practice with the rifle and if all keeps going as it has I may stop buying CCIs, hey I never have intentions of competing beyond the fun local level.
  5. They have some interesting sights thanks for the info.
  6. Their snow camo job is sweet!
  7. Ergo makes some nice stuff and there made just on the other side of the mountain from me, wish they had a factory outlet store.
  8. I'd try it for 20 bucks. Plus Cheaper than Dirt has a good return policy if you don't like it.
  9. I've found I have to keep a notebook in my range bag to write down what I plan to do on a given day at the range and leave it open where I can see it. Otherwise I start having fun shooting and forget the details I have handle. I know shooting should always be fun, but there are those days. Like you I prefer to shoot alone, except during our matches. Otherwise I get distracted or with my wife and step-daughter feel rushed.
  10. No, long term compressed springs last forever. Springs fail from movement. i.e. compressing them during loading, then unloading them at the range or when you get home. Loaded and stored magazines should last indefinitely without degradation.
  11. I like the Magpul foregrip, I have one on both my tricked-out 10/22 and my Spike's Tactical AR. http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG412/107
  12. Is it out? I have 2 Armscor 1911s, a RIA 5" GI, and a Citadel 3.5". I like both very much and they are very reliable. That said Armscor isn't the fastest about getting their new items to the retailers in a timely manner.
  13. Actually I didn't replace the modified bolt stop with the new one. I just took the bolt stop out all together. Here is my reasoning; 1. The bolt stop doesn't automatically lock open the bolt when the magazine is empty. 2. The Tactical Rimfire I shoot in requires when you finish a stage you have unloaded and show empty, immediatley while at the shooting line bag your rifle OR put an empty chamber indictator into the rifle before returning to the staging area. I do the latter, I personally believe the empty chamber indicator is safer. Also if you aren't using empty chamber indicators you have to take your rifle to the firing line in your bag, unbag it at the line and hopefully someone will take it from you and return it to the table instead of tossing it in the dirt. I'd prefer my bag wasn't in the dirt because I have lots of embroidered patches on it, magazines and other stuff in the pockets. 3. So I really have no reason to have the bolt stop. 4. Getting around not having the bolt stop when cleaning is as easy as a clamy with non-marring jaws. Since I've removed mine I have not had a single rifle malfunction of any type, not that I've ever had many with the 10/22.
  14. The 10/22 mechanism is so reliable :auto:
  15. Sounds like fun, I like to know how many round went thru the rifles on average.
  16. I'd think any of the liquid lead solvents would do the trick. Maybe put some in a dish and let the flash hider soak. Anyone see a problem with that idea. I'm not a gunsmith but did stay at a Holiday Inn once.
  17. Glad you joined us :thumb:
  18. I agree on something removable, removed when shipped.
  19. It may have been for inventory reasons, but once everyone got use to the chip being there, what is to prevent them, customs or the AFTE from switching the chips to one with other more sinister purposes?
  20. A bit more on this http://www.ammoland.com/2011/07/28/rfid-chip-in-chiappa-firearms/
  21. After spending most of yesterday out in the sun I'd planned to sit back in the A/C and watch movies today. Well we had a thunderstorm last night and it blew over a substantial portion of the big tree in the front yard. I didn't think the storm was very bad, but it appears I have Locust Borers in the tree, if so the whole tree will have to go. Which is a shame it is only 8 years old and it grew fast and had cool flowers shaped like grape clusters. So I ended up spening most of the day cutting up the fallen portion and loading it into my truck to haul off tomorrow.
  22. It took a while for the XD to grow on me. My wife has the compact .45acp. It has grown on me, initially I didn't care for the balance, but I realize now it was just because I like the feel of a 1911 frame so much. I think sometime in the future I'd really like to have a XD-M 3.8" 9mm compact.
  23. Glad you joined us dirtracer. What do you race in the dirt?
  24. The winning rifle today was the tricked out Remington 597, but it was far from a standard rifle, expensive holo-sight, aftermaket barrel and compensator. Visitor from back east with nothing but race guns, which is something we've tried to stay away from to keep it family orientated. 2nd & 3rd were the 2 Ruger 10/22s, I placed 3rd, my best showing so far. Can't fault the S&W 15-22, since most of their shooters were the kids and first timers.

It is running like a charm now. I cleaned it good still had some problems but not as bad. Our gun shot gunsmith cleaned it including the channel for the firing pin, and nary a problem since then. To get the firing pin out and gain access to the channel you must remove the rear sight, someone had a brain fart on that design.
