Picking out first scope feeling completely lost. Help please?

Well, There are certainly many choices out there. The BSA Sweet 22 comes to mind - it is a good scope, calibrated for .22lr, has a BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator) for the common .22lr bullet weights. It does NOT have a mil dot reticle however. I think that for the .22lr, the BDC function would be more important than mil dots. JMO You also will have plenty of your budget $$ left over for ammo. This scope is on sale all over, Amazon, Optics Planet, ect. The following is from another forum regarding the BSA scope: "I own allot of Leupold scopes - but - I choose to put the Sweet 22 on my suppressed Ruger 10/22. The BDC function is extremely handy, and fun, for both plinking and hunting........ it allows you to get the most out of your 22 rifle. It is money well spent........... there are certianly more expensive scopes with better optics - but - none are as functional as the Sweet 22. You will not be disapointed with it." So, this scope might be a starting point, you can get yourself started and see how you like it. And it won't break the bank. Also, Welcome to Tac22! TM -

Welcome to Tac22. If you need the exact date of production, you can contact Umarex customer service with the serial #, and they should be able to help you. I got my Colt in the summer of '09, and I do not think they had been on the market too long at that point.

Air Soft rail install on Colt M4
techmike replied to techmike's topic in Colt Umarex Mods and Upgrades
Looks good Dan! The AR free float rails unfortunately don't fit the M4 Ops variant. Hence the air-soft accessories that have the exact same threads as the Colt M4. (Which does not have a delta ring) The Troy (air soft) rail I have is the same grade aluminum as mil-spec. It is anodized to the same color and hardness as mil-spec. It is also licensed by Troy, but it fits air soft receivers, which is what all of the Walther/Umarex/Colts are based on. -
Here is the link to Nikon's software download. Scroll down to find the links for different versions of Windows and Mac. You need to know if you have 32 or 64 bit Windows. Can't help you at all with Mac. HERE

I have a Troy Battle rail on my AR, and decided I needed one on my Colt also. Unfortunately, the Troy AR rail doesn't fit on the Colt .22. Thanks to Tac22 member, vlhoang, I found out that the Colt is based on an air soft receiver. So I purchased one of THESE and it works just fine. Installation pics are in the attached PDF. Two polymer AR lowers - $39 each.

Don't know Kevin. (Mine is the M4 Ops) Would sure look sharp if it did!

Here also - we used to leave our cars at Belle Tire the night before if we needed service - can't do that anymore. Almost makes one think of setting out "bait" for those low-lifes. :auto:

Welcome Jordan, looking forward to your pics!

Everyone enjoy the day. Best regards, TM & family

Hey Kevin, Sounds like a good solution, and you got a free mag! :thumb: I have never disassembled one of the M16 stocks, so I cannot help you there. As Rodent suggests, look at the parts diagram in your owners manual. On the M-4 stock/tube, one removes the stock from the tube in the usual manor - pulling down on the locking lever and sliding the stock off, then remove the small screw from the rear/bottom of the tube - then remove the end cap - then remove the long screw from inside the tube that holds the tube to the lower. When you get yours apart, how about posting the procedure to remove the M16 stock??? Pics are always welcome. TM

Hi Kevin, No, it it supposed to be latched securely. Sometimes with the bolt in battery they don't latch easily. You can also practice with an empty mag, they do need a firm hand to seat when the rifle is new, and have you tried more than one mag? If you only have one mag, I suggest taking the rifle and mag back to the store and asking them to try another mag. Also, welcome to Tac22. TM

Thanks for the correction Dan, :thumb: I had tried one AR rail & it didn't fit, so I went with an airsoft version of a Troy Battle Rail. Looks just like the "real" one on my AR.

Stocks - I currently have a VLTOR on mine - any AR stock will fit, but they are a sloppy fit unless you shim the inside of the stock, not a big deal. Pistol grips - just about any will fit, but - I have had to enlarge the mounting hole, and drill a second hole for the Colt's hammer strut, again, not a big deal. Some extended handles for the charging handle will fit, with some minor fitting. Different uppers, No - same for lowers - not compatible with AR uppers/lowers. Internals, No. Quad rails, No - except for airsoft rails fit with no modding. I can post detailed how-to's if you need. TM
