  1. I just learned this trick, you all probably know it already. When my NiCad battery packs "go bad", get weak, won't hold a charge ect, I used to take them apart and replace the bad cells. But there is a much easier way. Evidently, some kind of crystal filaments grow in the batteries and short out the individual cells. One then needs to "zap" the battery. 1. Charge the bad pack overnight. 2. If you have a DC welder, determine which end is positive and negative. 3. Contact the negative side of the welder to the negative contact on the battery. 4. Momentarily contact the positive side of the welder to the positive side of the battery. 5. Repeat 5 or 6 times. 6. Put the battery back in the charger - it should now fast charge and operate normally. My welder is A/C, so I made up some jumper wires and took them into work today, I used a 36 volt 200 amp fork lift battery and brought 2 battery packs back to life. It's like magic! The voltage zap burns out the filaments. TM Use standard safety equipment and goggles.
  2. Oh yeah - and to top it off, the darned bird crapped a load in my pond. Grrrrrr. TM :o
  3. Crap! Sorry, bad choice of expletive!!!! I remember from Navy days, when a crapper on the ship got plugged, one did not use a plunger..... one reported the crapper number to the snipes, and they would back-blow it. Then some poor schmuck would have to scrape it off the overhead. That would have been me - SLJPO - (Shitty Little Jobs Petty Officer) Well, I found over time that it was one asshole that kept plugging the crappers with too much tp. Whatever. I practiced preventive maintenance - I didn't wait for him to plug it, as soon as he sat down and opened his magazine, I had it back blown... yes, while he was sitting on it. Never had that problem again! Anyway, sorry about your issue, I know what it is like to lose the project $$$$$. TM
  4. Hmmm. I thought you were living in Texas? TM ;D
  5. Yup - got that, except I could shoot the lions. These predator birds number in the millions world wide, tax dollars are spent on them like no tomorrow, and I have somehow lost my property rights because of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. Repeat my question: why are they still protected? TM :sniper: PS - Thinking of a full auto air soft gun as pond interdiction. There are actually motorized air soft mini guns for sale!!! That would be a HOOT!
  6. Can you reach the trigger?? TM
  7. I'm sorry, all this talk of pink grips made me remember that group..... My Bad!!! TM
  8. Got home from some errands this afternoon, went out back and discovered a heron in my pond with my favorite pure white koi it it's freaking beak. Appears we are missing about 5 fish. Tell me again why birds like that are protected????? TM >:(
  9. Uh, actually, I still have a vegamatic ::) TM
  10. "Are ya with me camera guy?" "cause I can't do this all day" Do you remember about a year ago, the shamwow guy got beat up by a prostitute? He got his clock cleaned! TM
  11. Hmmmmm. Pink :o TM
  12. Just when I was down with the gunstock rip-off, here is a good one! My Ruger LCP has the Crimson Trace laser installed. After prolonged carry in a IWB holster, the screws on the body side of the C Trace started to rust. I emailed the company to purchase new screws - I think they are 2-56 x 0.5" - not something you can pick up at Home Depot!! I received an email back asking for my address, they would send me new screws at no cost to me. Today I received a small package from Crimson Trace, containing not just the 2 new screws, but several small allen wrenches, two swabs for cleaning the laser aperture, new laser warning stickers, and two new batteries! Now that is great customer service!!!!! :thumb:TM
  13. Let's see some pics of that baddy! TM
  14. I believe you are correct. There was no corrosion, no signs of physical damage - just the primer mixed with the powder. I guess the primer could have "broken" when the firing pin struck instead of igniting, but when flame was applied the primer material cooked off just fine. I e-mailed Federal, and within 24 hours I had received a response offering to replace the value pack.TM
  15. I had two fail to fires last time out - both were from a Federal Value Pack. Both rounds were manually extracted, reloaded and fired a second time. Neither round functioned. At home, I removed the bullets and found the primer, a bright greenish color material, broken up and mixed with the powder. TM
  16. I took a two year gunsmith correspondence course long ago - wasn't bad for the $$, and ended up with good tools as part of the class. Company was NRI - but they went out of business. Only draw back was it WAS a correspondence course. The NRA has links to some real courses around the country. And of course there are many video "classes"for a specific firearm. TM
  17. Good deal Asmurf! I just got 300 rounds of once fired .380 brass. Gotta run them thru the vibrator then set up the .380 dies in a Lee turret. It is humid here in Ohio, (I know that's not an issue for you), so I came up with a storage solution - large jiff peanut butter jars are just perfect - cut a chunk of foam rubber to fit in the bottom, and the turrets with the dies fit perfectly, and are hermetically sealed. TM
  18. I had purchased a custom stock from this company in 2001 and was very happy with their work. I ordered another stock in July of 2009. I have not received a gun stock, just 11 months of excuses and broken commitments. Now they won't issue a refund. $276.00. I am going to try and file suit against them. Buyer beware!!! TM - Grrrrrrr!
  19. Welcome - I have the Colt, and like it a bunch. Just had a trigger job done on it that reduced the factory pull from 10.5 to 4.75 lbs - what a difference. I have a buddy that has the M&P - he likes it but has not shot it nearly as much as I have the Colt. I have run 4.5 to 5k rounds thru it - no issues other than it can be finicky with some brands of ammo. TM
  20. Howdy and Welcome! TM
  21. Best $49 I have spent in a while! Well worth it, shoots much more consistently. I may actually try some quality ammo in it now.... TM :thumb:
  22. Mikey Likes It!!! :thumb: TM
  23. What are you doing up this late??? ;D TM
