  1. I have been stocking up on this stuff for a while - WalMart sometimes has it. Now they have raised the price of the 550 pack by $2.00, but not the 375 pack. Go figure! TM

I think lmao is concerned with shooting unplated rounds, and lead fouling can ensue. TM
  3. All back together - dry fire is very promising! No creep, slowly increase pressure, then all of a sudden it breaks, very crisp. Can't wait to get it out to the range! TM
  4. Trigger returned! The pull is now measuring between 4.5 and 4.75 lbs - much much better than is was! Getting ready to put the Colt back together. Range report to follow. TM
  5. Excellent post Kilibreaux! :thumb: A lot of folk want to jump into a progressive setup without learning the basics. I actually have an old LEE hand reloading kit in 30-30. ;D TM
  6. Don't get me started on lawn mower regulation.... Grrrrrrrr. You think guns are regulated???? Do any of you remember when we were young, the throttle control on a mower actually increased the RPMs of a mower? There wasn't the stupid kill switch on the handle? Well, thanks to the Consumer Report Magazine, and large numbers of stupid Americans, (now with less than ten fingers and or toes), the tip speed of lawnmower blades is federally regulated. They all now have governors to keep the speed low, so when stupid people stick their hand(s) inside the mower while it is running, it doesn't sever digits. I am so sick of protecting stupid people! Anyway, I try to stay away from "easy start" engines. Basically, the cams in those engines don't allow the valves to close all the way, hence the "easy start". Of course, you suffer a big power loss and burn more gas. Get one with an electric or battery start. I prefer Briggs and Stratton over Tecumseh, they are a bit easier to work on. MTD is an OK brand for low to medium cost push mowers. I have a 1991 Crafstman lawn tractor that runs great - rebuilt the carb & mower deck last year. Going to give it a low rider paint job this year! (two - tone paint) ;D TM

  8. Howdy! TM
  9. Thanks for the info Raiders! TM
  10. Yeah - Different lots, all across the country. FTF in my Colt shoot just fine in my Marlin. Quality control IMO. TM
  11. Souds like all of you will have lots more fun than me. I'm working. TM
  12. Midway has em, but I have a couple K in stock I need to use up. TM
  13. This stuff doesn't have lacquer - it's teflon coated. But it is only temporary - I have dies and components on order. TM
  14. Well, this is my first AR - had never fired a .223 until today. Cabelas has a bunch of steel cased, Russian .223 for $.20 a round. Until I get reloading components that will do. :auto:TM PS - Here is the Leatherwood retical.
  15. Here is a good place to start. There is a sticky on that page for tuners. I bought a cd online that walked me through disassembly, basic tuning, ect. Was enough for me to install the gas piston. Th AR is sweet! Went to the range today and ran a quick 40 rounds thru it. I will need to scope it, as with my tri-focals the front sight is just a vertical blur, but I was able to get hits in the black at 100 with the iron sights. Looking at a Leatherwood CMR scope. TM
  16. What kind of air gun? I have a Gammo Whisper, which was disappointing out of the box - I couldn't tell if the "silencer" worked because the spring twanged too much... I installed the gas piston upgrade in order to eliminate the twang, and it increased the power so much that it blew the baffles out of the "silencer". It is very accurate and hard hitting, I have a Bushnell circle plex scope with a tac light and laser mounted on it. I knocked a coon out of a back yard tree with it. TM PS - Traded the Garand today - will test fire the AR15 Friday! TM
  17. HiYa Sam 8 - And that's a Roger..... but, I have been thinning out the gun lockers the past year. Ever since I got my Colt M-4, I was remembering how much fun smaller calibers are to shoot. And I think the Garand was meant to be used, not be a safe queen. And I get a new fun gun to play with. .223 is a lot cheaper to reload than 30-06. All that said, I will miss it, but I only paid $250 for it. TM :thumb:
  18. My trigger has arrived at Bill's place in Colorado Springs. TM
  19. Looking for a not expensive .22 mag rifle.
  20. I was going to say "Those are neat" - meaning the brass catchers. Damn Rodent - that is just nasty!!! Think I am going blind..... 8) TM
  21. Those are nice! TM
  22. Went to the range last Thursday, and have determined that I don't really like to shoot 30-06 anymore. I used to be able to put several hundred rounds downrange, now my shoulder complains after 24. So after a lot of thought, and a few adult beverages, have put the Garand up for trade. Might have a taker - offer is an AR platform, Stag upper/Sabre Defense lower. Waiting for pics. TM
  23. So true - thanks for understanding! :thumb: TM
