Yeah - gun shows in Toledo are pitiful to start with. Due to just repealed local laws, we can at least have them now, but they are always sponsored by the Maumee Valley Gun Collectors Club. Almost all of the vendors are club members, so there is a lot of price fixing. Like all .380 ammo is $30 a box - no variation...The closest GOOD shows are at Lima, but since I work weekends, I don't get to many. TM
-
Nothing. >:( They started charging for parking, never been done before,so the traffic was a mess - one guy collecting tolls. I parked about a mile away and walked in. But the show was so crowded, I couldn't even get to the tables. It was difficult to even walk around. I left after about 20 minutes. Very dissapointing. TM

Hey guys - I have an Ithica model 51 12 ga featherweight. I used it for many years as my primary pheasant and quail gun. Then, one opening day, it starting malfing with 3" shells. It fires the chambered round, drops the next round out the bottom and jams up on the third round. But, it works fine with 2 3/4" shells. I have replaced the main recoil spring, and both singulator springs. Everything looks ok. Any suggestions? TM

Here is the BEC scope mounted on the riser... Note the rails on the scope for mounting of lasers, lights, ect, ect. Have not yet been to the range, but it looks good in the back yard. TM

It is however, lethal to squirrels. ;D Just don't tell my Sweetie....

That rang a bell, checked my odds-n-ends ammo box - have one partial box of it. Price tag said $1.50. TM

Asurmff- just got this in today from CTD. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SCP407-7.html I have it mounted, and it looks good. It needs to be up a bit for me, and I have ordered a scope riser from Optics Planet. The sight picture is sharp, very thin reticles, I like it. Range report to follow. (it's snowing here). It does not mount using scope rings... I tried a Leapers scope 1st on my Colt, a 6x32, mill dot. Nice scope, except for the reticle - it is so thick that it completely covers the bulls of some of my targets at 50yds. TM
-
How did you like it?
-
Has anyone used a Millet DMS-1? Nice price and I like the reticle - kinda like a modern German Post. Can be seen at C.T.D. - tried posting a link, but didn't work. TM

I was ready to bid on a Walther scope - then I read that is was a knock-off from China. At least the seller was up front! TM
-
Funny you should ask that just now..... I have had 3 different scopes on my Colt, and all produced acceptable accuracy, but... They just didn't float my boat. I like the one I currently have, a 5.5x20-50, side focus - I can actually see the .22 cal hits on paper at 100 yds, but, it's huge! I am currently bidding on 5 or 6 scopes on e-bay. Used & new. Also bought one from C.T.D. - Should get here in 3-5 days. Will report as soon as possible. TM

Howdy - Central CA? I used to live in the Sac area for quite a while - also San Diego, Long Beach and Santa Cruz. Welcome! TM

I used to be SO into pro sports - had SF 49ers season tickets, Sacramento Kings tickets, and went to many SF Giants games every year. It just got too expensive, the players are too pampered and childish. (and tattooed) I now live in Toledo, OH - go to a couple of Mud Hens games a year - very much fun - the players at this league are still real people, and it doesn't cost a fortune. But I REALLY miss Candlestick Park - there are some really neat clubs and restaurants in that place! Had some great tailgates there! TM PS - Not so much into soccer.....
-
I do not have any sons, but do have a daughter and two step daughters, all of them are shooters, so the firearms are not an issue. (although they will probably fight over them) Reloading stuff - who knows... I won't care ::) Lostsa tools - again, who knows..... I have a few that were my GrandFathers, and some of my Fathers - those will go to my daughter. Weird thinking about this! TM

Light Strikes - Every fail to fire in my Colt also failed to fire in a bolt action. So I believe they are actual duds. It appears that my Colt has "light strikes" due to the "high" number of fail to fire rounds. Fact is, since I got the Colt I have fired more .22 rounds than ever before. So it just seems like a problem with the rifle. As a youngster, I was lucky to shoot 50 rounds a week. Now I shoot 500 - 700 at a pop. And as all the ammo makers are ramping up production, there just might be quality control issues. TM

Colt/Umarex/Walther Tactical .22 Ammo Thread
techmike replied to SCORPiON5150's topic in Colt Umarex General
Good info - Early on I had the best performance with Federal Bulk Ammo, available (sometimes) from WalMart. Then I got 3k rounds of BVAC from Cheaper Than Dirt. Shoots just as reliably as the Federal, but about 1.5 inches higher @ 50 yds-it's just a bit hotter! It is HV, HP 36 grain plated. I like it. Also have a bunch of Winchester Super X Power Point HP 40 grain - works good. Had problems with Remington Golden Bullets and Win Wildcats. TM -
Hi SCORPiON5150, Welcome and what a nice Christmas present! Thanks for the range report, and glad to hear yours is trouble free. You can find a detailed cleaning procedure at the top on the Colt Umarex General section. I agree - Colt's cleaning procedure is poor. TM :thumb:

Fired up the air brush today, and finished the scope mount with Dura-coat's parkerizing color - darn close match to the M1! Had some juice left in the pot, so I started misting the scope - this is looking good! Will post pics after the cure. TM :thumb:

Hi mcekim2 - GOOD LUCK! I lived in Kalifornia for 30 years . Finally moved back home to Ohio. Keep up the fight - it is easier to stop a bad law than to repeal it. TM

I saw that - looks interesting!
