    Ruger LCP

Got out to the range last Friday - the LCP functioned flawlessly. It obviously is not a long range weapon... but at 15 feet or less it is hard to miss your target. It is not a "fun" gun to shoot, as it's low mass makes for a very robust recoil even with target ammo. Mine came with two mags, one which has the extended finger grip. The $8 for the extended finger grip is well worth the money! One thing I do not like: After reading the manual, I now understand that when you rack the slide, and a round is chambered, the hammer is actually at what Ruger calls "half cock". I don't like that! Even after the recall, a dropped LCP has the possibility of discharge. My package deal also came with a Crossbreed Holster - honest, it is the most comfortable holster I have ever worn. http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/ - just don't get the one that only has one belt clip - I had issues with that one. TM Now to work up a good HP load for it!
  3. I tried substituting lighter springs in the trigger assy., which reduced measured trigger pull from 10.5 lbs to 5.5 lbs. Safety still worked fine. Took it out to the range, loaded 1 round, just fine, reduced trigger pull greatly increased my ability to hit what I wanted. Tried a few more one round at a time with no problems. Loaded 2 rounds, gun fired both with 1 trigger pull. Loaded 3 rounds, all three fired with 1 trigger pull. I have since learned to live with a 10.5 lb trigger pull. TM PS - Hoping some smart gunsmith will devise an inexpensive drop-in after market trigger assembly....... ::)
  4. Got my Sweetie a pair made by Vivitar for Christmas, it has a digital camera built in. I have not received any feedback yet, so I can't tell you if they are good or not - the cost $40. TM
  5. I prefer optical sights - do not want to depend on batteries. (I know - neanderthal attitude) But I have to admit, I have yet to find the perfect scope for my M-4.... I started out with a fixed low power mil-dot scope, which was OK, but... Currently have a 5.5 to 20x with side parallax adjustment, and turret adjustments. Other than it's large size, it's cool. Mil dot - which I do not use, zero'd it @ 50, rotate top knob CCW to 20 & it's right on @ 100. But at high mag, it tends to "white-out" depending on the background. I do like the high power because I can see a .22 cal hole in a target @ 100 yds...don't have to use my spotting scope. Was looking at a Konus scope @ Midway, but they sold out... What's YOUR favorite?? TM
  6. I have seen (on other sites) allegations of major problems with the Umarex/Colt. But never any specifics. Anyone have solid info or firsthand issues with the Colt? I have over 2000 rounds thru mine with no problems. Thanks! TM
  7. Ahhhh. Temp hit almost 40 degrees today - hit the range and popped 100 rnds thru the Colt. All is well with my tiny little :auto:world. TM
  8. Oh Yeah!!! :thumb:
  9. Welcome!!
  10. Excellent - looking forward to pics of your build!
  11. Howdy!
  12. Nice looking - I bought my Sweetie a Charger last year - it was fantastic out of the box. She shoots chipmunk size groups @ 50 yds, and squirrel size groups @ 100 yds. :thumb:
  13. A friend sent this...
  14. Excellent!
  15. I love it! I used to be employed by Roche Biomedical Lab in Sacramento. We would get inspected by the state and the CAP every other year. One of the requirements was a weekly backup, or copy, of all correspondence, and the backups kept locked up. Copies were supposed to be on floppys. I was the "computer guy" so I had to tag along during the inspection. Never never will forget the look on the inspector's face when the secretary unlocked the file cabinet and showed him her indexed "copies" of the floppy discs. Yes, Xerox copies of floppy discs.
  16. Ahem. It is not an issue of a "clean" garage. More so the radial drill press, table saw, band saw, 10" chop saw, multi-purpose machine (mill/drill/lathe), abrasive blast cabinet, gun safe, tool boxes, air compressor, work bench, grinder, belt sander, welder, shooting and reloading supplies.....get the picture? ;D Oh, and I forgot 3 computers and work stations to repair 3 more - I have a small PC repair business in there also. TM
  17. The Sweetie and I went to see the 3-D movie Avatar tonight. WOW. repeat WOW Go see it - WOW. TM :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
  18. Gosh - it's still working! A few squeals from the 3 count them 3 drive belts. I have to increase tension, 2 are adjustable from the top, 1 from the bottom. Many thanks for the great vibes! (thinking about a new moniker - "I hate Kia") PS - What made this such an enjoyable task is I can only get a car about 2 feet into my garage. I bungee'd a big tarp from the top of my garage around the front of the car, and two kerosene heaters going full blast. My toes are now thawed! TM
  19. Nice Madhouse - I have never fired a .17 - how does it compare to the .22wmr? TM
  20. Well, the good vibes worked! Thanks guys!!! TM
  21. My Sweeties' car is an 05 KIA Sorento. We bought it because Chevy had quit making Blazers, and it had that 10year/100k mile warranty. #$@%&*)(#$# mistake. Engine replaced @ 5k miles-took 29 days. Rear diff rebuilt @ 59k miles. I started R&R the timing belt on New Years Eve, due every 60K miles. It is an interference engine, which means if the belt breaks, SOL! I have done timing belts before. There is SO much crap just to get to the 3 timing belt covers....... 6.5 hours to get the original belt off. Then due to my mistake, I broke the belt tensioner. Not even the dealer stocked it. (Guess I must be special to be the ONE in Toledo to have to order it!!!!) My days off are Thursday/Friday, so I am putting it together Thursday. Major snow storm due to hit. Oh yeah, will be a real fun day!!!!! TM
  22. Hey Rodent - Nice looking job! How does the Krylon stack up against Dura Coat? TM
  23. Howdy - So, like East of Santee??? I was stationed in Diego for awhile back when. Had a few shooting spots up in the high desert in the 70's. Welcome! TM
  24. Howdy, and again, Thanks for your Service! TM :thumb:
