The Lone Star shootings appear to be a couple of thugs shooting it out. National news was like a bunch of vultures ready to pounce upon it. After no "Really Big News", it's just a foot note today. That's why everyone in Texas is armed. If there's going to be a gunfight, and it looks like I'm going to get involved, I want to participate. ;D If you don't know the story of how Texas became one of the most pro gun right states in the country, this should provide interesting reading. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanna_Hupp

I'm not understanding this "Background Check" stuff. Every firearm I have purchased, retail store, on-line and pick up at an FFL, or Gun Show, I've had to have a background check on every weapon I have purchased. And I live in Texas and have a CHL. Doesn't matter. Background check is required. Is there different laws where you guys are? Seems to me at least this call for mandatory background checks, is a law which is already in effect. Is the new presidential decree, concerning background checks, just dramatics for a law already in effect?

All this reminds me of those old photos of the Soviet Union grocery stores. Lines around the block, and bare shelves when you finally get inside.

Do you find yourself going to range less frequently? Do you start hoarding your rounds? Are you tired of going to your local sporting good store and see the ammo cases look like a ghost town? Putting off firearm purchases, because A) you can't find it..And B) you don't know if you can get ammo to shoot it? I guess it's a pretty good deal for the Anti-Gun guys, cause at least for me, I'm not shooting near as much (Not even Skeet) Cause you don't know if you'll ever be able to replace rounds you send down range. Gun control due to scarcity..The ultimate evil plan ;D It is frustrating though....

I'm a Texan. But as pointed out, Obama has become the #1 gun seller in the nation. I haven't seen a 22LR round for sale in a month. Same with 223. No 9mm. I did find 4 50 round boxes of 45ACP last week and scarfed them up. As far as weapons, anything tactical forget it. Mostly just a few old sub $200 shotguns. I've got a pretty good stash, but it sure makes you hesitant to go to the range, not knowing if you'll be able to replace that round. I wish everybody would stop the "Great Debate", push whatever the left is going to do for this "Terrible Problem" to Congress. Then let it die on the vine, and get back to shooting. I haven't seen this much fear since the Dow hit 6300 4 years ago.

Yeah..I saw that as well. Thank god there's some form of sanity in NY. 8)

Response from governor Rick Perry...(One hour after King Obama's proclomation) “The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there. “Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror. “There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children. “In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.†Texas..The democrats will play hell down here.

Hit 3 Walmarts, 2 Academy's this week..Not a single 22LR on the shelf. It really starts you thinking when shooting at the range. "I wonder If I can actually replace this round I just shot?".

Texas is considering legislation that would pay all CHL fees to any teacher that wants to get one.

Done and Done a couple of weeks ago. But I really don't think Texas will be the threat to the 2nd.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them as well. At the gun shows they always seem to have the killer prices.

Happy new year. 3 Tshing Tao's and in bed by 11:00. Too old to cut the mustard anymore. What I don't get is my brother in law, who's 5 years older than me, stayed out till 4:30 partying with his 25 year old girl friend. (He's 65, single, and living the high life in Cartagena Columbia.) I'd like to visit him if I could talk my wife into staying home.. ;D

Demand A Plan - Demand Celebrities Go F*CK Themselves
Tal replied to imschur's topic in General Talk
I've often wondered why we never get any of the "Armed Citizens" posts in the "American Rifleman" never make the news. We have a lot less bad guys walking the streets of Houston, because citizens have the right to protect themselves. Home invasion crews beware. We generally hear about 1 a week going to see their maker. Instead we concentrate on the less than 1% of incidents, and the majority of those are the results of existing gun laws being broken. Neighbors buying guns for convicted felons. Gun owners allowing access to firearms of mentally deranged relatives. Pshychiatrists not reporting dangerous individuals to authorities, minors in possesion of hand guns. etc, etc.. If the existing laws would be enforced you would see an almost complete halt to these incidents. Notice I said "Almost". Even Abraham Lincoln said he could easily be assasinated by a determined mad man who was willing to give up his life in exchange. Pretty prophetic. -
These folks http://www.ajcgunshop.com/ Have advertised in the local papers they got plenty of AR's and large capacity mags for sale. Have not called for prices.

Yep..As they climb into their luxury vehicles, surrounded by ARMED security guards and head to their fortress mansions. What a bunch of crock. -
Great idea and follow through!!!

It's Started, Cost of High Capacity Mags have nearly doubled
Tal replied to jnsampson's topic in General Talk
We just got too much damn freedom in this country. We need a lot of it taken away...(Tounge firmly in cheeck).. Interesting tidbid I heard yesterday. Some of the Anti-Gun Nuts are putting together legislation which will require gunowners to pay a yearly registration fee on their guns, just like a yearly registration for your car. Now is the time to stand strong and protect your freedoms. -
Notice the numbers have NOT moved in over 24 hours. I smell something fishy!

They have all but eliminated the problem of terrorists taking over the cock pits of our airlines. Surely they can do the same at our schools, without taking away our rights. I find it laughable with clowns like Pierce and Whoopi, and the rest of that bunch tell us how to live. After the show they go home to their apartments on 5th avenue in their chauffer driven armed security guards. While the rest of us out here, don't have anyone to count on except ourselves, in times on national disaster, riots, etc..And yep..it happens. Just look at the looters on Coney Island a few weeks ago, Katrina, Ike, etc... Have never been in a gunfight and hopefully never will. That doesn't stop me from preparing for the worse. Sharpening my skills at the range, taking classes, etc..The one thing I've been told which I have a tendency to believe is coming in 2nd in a gunfight is a non-survivable event.

Bought the last of the 223 ammo last night at Wally World. 120 rounds and that was it.
-
signed.. Although I doubt it will disuade Mr. Biden. Your best hope is with your congressman and the NRA, IMHO..

More info... His father bought it on the day he was born (63 years ago) from a Canadian RCMP auction. Has the lanyard and everything but shells. ;D

I have a friend of mine who has an old Webley chambered in 38. There doesn't seem to be any 200 grain stuff around for it, but I did find a link for this. http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php/cName/pistol-ammo-38-sw Will he have any issues firing this? I know the Webley is not compatible with S&W special. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.38/200 It is still a cool old revolver and deserves to be shot..Just wondering? (He told me he did find some original 200 grain ammo at a gun show, but the guy wanted $18 a round.)..If the 145 grain stuff works, that would be great. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webley_Revolver
