  1. My thoughts as I've already posted on another site.... The media coverage has turned a tradgedy into an entertainment event. They don't have anything to report so they just make stuff up. This psychiatrists, (Who know nothing but will try to give you an insight). The retired cops, who give you they're take on what is "Probably" going on. Reporters, who instead of reporting the facts, report on the "Images" they have of the scene, but haven't actually been there. Is it really reporting when the "NEWS" is somebodies feelings, hunches, images, the reporters personal thoughts, as well as hired "Analyasts" (AKA Talking heads.).The poor chief of police, at every report, is hounded by media like a bunch of hungry sharks. Very dissapointing. And the parents of the surviving children letting their kids go on national news for an interview, to make sure they get their 15 minutes. And this will reporting on nothing will continue until the next news event, which will push this one to the back of the burner. and then we get to hear the same old tired crap over again. And of course we get the Bob Costa's, Leslie Stahl's, and the rest of the world, talking about "It's about time we had a serious discussion in this country over Gun control". Give me a freakn' break. CT. has some of the most draconian gun laws in this country. Helped a whole bunch didn't it. Maybe if those teachers would have been armed there might have been a different outcome and maybe not. No one knows what goes through the mind of a mad man. My only true regret is the asshole died, thus denying us the chance to slowly torture him to death over about a 3 month period. But we don't have the guts as a society to even follow through with that. Just look at the asshole in Fort Hood who's been sitting in jail cell and no trial for going on 3 years, because we might damage his human rights by forcing him to shave. The Asshole kills 13, wounds 31 and we're worried about HIS human rights. Really? I mean Really? This country is in real trouble and it's not because of your NRA members, but rather your strip your personal rights left wingers. So on with the hand wringing, Geraldos imagined "Images", the "Time for a serious discussion", until the next hurricane, shooting, oil field blow out, will capture all the no nothing talking heads for another few days. What has been the result so far??? Went to Academy last night.. Not a single bullet on the shelf, except for a few wierdo calibers or exoctics. I'm talking not even a 30-06 round. Not an AR on the shelf. And people lined up 3 deep buying what was left. Joe Biden has been appointed the presidents "Point Man" on this "Pressing Issue".. Those who enjoy the freedoms of the 2nd amendment, get ready for a long, grueling fight. Signed. Proud NRA member.
  2. Of course I adimantly disagree with my esteemed colleague Rodent..(Yeah..I'm starting to sound like those freakn' commercials ;D) on almost every point he made.. But seeing as this is the thread where everyone gets one last chance to post.. The following quote pretty much summarizes my thoughts. "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with a result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years." Sir Alexander Fraser Tyler "Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic" There..My last post on the subject..
  3. I don't get California at all. I've been out there many times and have yet to meet all the nuts that seem to be out there. Maybe because the people I go out to see are hard working taxpayers.
  4. I read this stuff and think "They are going to take my guns away and millions of others?" "They had better damn sure send more than a couple of ATF agents.. ;D
  5. Unbelivable..I'ms still speechless..Yep..2 days in a 3% decline in the markets. I'm with you Wobblinwheel. After all the middle class working whites, just say hell with it, decide to sit on their ass, put their hands out and say "Where's Mine?". Who in the hell you got left to finance this fiasco? Saw a pretty funny bumper Sticker yesterday... Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms...What's the problem? ;D
  6. One of the most disappointing days of my life...4 more years? Hell I barely survived the last 4. What in the hell are the American people seeing that I'm not. I've struggled with this and just can't come up with an answer..
  7. As I'm looking at the returns coming in, I'm thinking of putting off my purchase of the Gold Cup, and getting another AR, before the ban movement starts. :sniper:

  16. I hear you guys...I finally had to wrap the rifle, scope, and all the accessories and have my wife hide it.... I started to think..."Has that kid really been that good? Damn..I can see me shooting that thing".. ;D Just kidding.. It'll be worth it to see his face. 8)
  17. You are an evil man microgunner... >:D The sad part is, after reading your post about the poor starving Benelli's, I'm becoming more concerned. I'm now starting to ask myself..."What can I do to help"....
  18. Hell...If I could get one of those Archers, I'd be walking around thinking "What Wife?"...

  20. I should have read this thread before about a month ago... I hopelessly hooked.. Didn't get nothing fancy. Just a weatherby semi-auto made in Turkey. Since I finally got accepted in the gun club, and they got several shotgun ranges, I decided to just "Give it a try"...(Famous last words.)... I haven't got my skill level up to the point where I participate in the matches they have on weekends, but I went out and bought a 3/4 cock thrower and a box of a clays, and a 100, 8 and half shot shells. ...Yeah...That's how it started...(God help me...LOL..).. Me and my son went to range a couple of weeks ago, and have been about every other day since...God we can't get the grin off our faces... Question...Before this goes on very much further, do you guys think I might need an intervention.... This is my shotgun pictured below...Not a fancy Bennelli, or the like, but it's making my start to think I might NEED a Benelli... ;D
  21. As confusing as the age of 19 can be, I do know one thing about my son. He loves to shoot, and has been drooling over a traditional deer rifle and scope setup for a couple of years. I am one of those parents who is in the unfortunate position of having one of their children born right at Christmas. (His Birthday is the 23rd)...Also this year he has been invited to go deer hunting with his buddies. I was just going to loan him my old Remington 7400 Semi in 30-06, But I wanted to get him his own rifle and make it special for him. So I have been spending a lot of time checking out a nice entry level rifle for him that wouldn't break the bank but a good rifle/scope combination....I actually went out shopping and looked at a lot of different models. but the rifle I chose for him was the Ruger American in 30-06. I purchased a Burris Full Field 3-9x40 scope, ruger steel scope rings, Harris Bi-Pod, Bone Killer strap and Case. I didn't buy it all in one place but looked around for deals on each individual piece. I wound up spending around $650 for the whole rig. I have not assemble all the pieces. I figured that would be part of the excitement for him come Christmas. It looks like a really nice setup to me that anyone would be proud to own and pass down. True it's not that Weatherby Mark4 300 WSM, but I'm pretty sure he'll be proud of it and I know I will be to present it to him... Here's a pic I found on the Net of basically the same rifle and set up. He's getting old enough where there wont be too many more times I get to watch him go crazy on Christmas, so I'm looking forward to this one.

    Finally...

I'm in!!!!! Gosh...There goes the kiddos college tuition buying ammo.. :thumb: Can't wait to try shooting clays. And I can't wait to try out my new Weatherby SA08 semi auto 12 guage on em.. (It's so great to hang out at a FAMILY orientated range. A lot of the inside ranges I've been to over the last couple of years, you feel good that you got a loaded firearm, with all the gangbangers, 1%'s shooting in the booth next to you.. ;D)

    Finally...

After a year and a half on the waiting list for membership into the Pearland Shooting Club, I finally got a call on Friday and was told to bring my check for annual membership this Wednesday for the Orientation session. FINALLY..This range is only about 15 minutes from my house. I can finally leave the indoor pistol ranges alone. (Even though they have been a great place to hone my skill over the last couple of years.) Link below for PSC.. http://www.psc-range.com/ Of course they got a rifle range and a trap, skeet, and a 5 stand shotgun range.....(I have never shot any form of clay targets before and I'm really stoked about it. The old 870 was mainly a squierrell gun. ) So...I pulled my AR out and my Old Remington 7400 semi-auto (chambered in 30-06), then my ancient Remington 870, and my Mossberg 500. Spent a day cleaning and getting them perfect. Then of course I started thinking about it. Got on the net read a bunch of reviews on New Bolt Action 30-06 and semi auto shotguns.... And of course over the weekend I became the proud owner of a Weatherby SA08 and after watching the "Gun Nuts" and reading several reviews I bought the Ruger American, 30-06. Got an old Luepold I'm going to stick on the Ruger. I'm really looking forward to this, and my son has already informed me that I'm going to suck so bad at Clays, that I mess well just let him shoot them and I stick to the pistol Ranges...(Yeah that's gonna Happen...LOL..)..
  24. Now that's funny...
