imschur
Its funny I havent used it for a game in well over a year. I use it for DVD movies who's discs are heavily scratched and my DVD player pukes out. We were doing the steaming netflix thing until the lan connection toasted. asmurff
Well if it isn't fixable you could use it to do a pic series on the "Xbox of Truth" ;D
Madhouse
My wife found a failure percentage article on the 3 big game consoles. The xBox had a failure rate of like 17%, PS3 of around 8% and the Wii only around 3%.I sold my xBox 360 to a guy at work and bought a PS3, that 360 failed like a month later. Jim0331
I have always been loyal to my playstations, never had a problem with any of them. My wife did get me an Xbox (old style) and that worked pretty well. I ended up giving that one to my brother. My son has had 2 Xbox 360's and both of them died on him, so I got him a PS3 last christmas. techmike
I just repaired my daughter's X-box 360 - had the dreaded red ring of death/ error 76... Found a web site that insisted I could fix that with a heat gun. Damn - it worked!!! Did have to find another site in order to crack the case, but accurate application of a heat gun to the MoBo fixed the sucker! My daughter is impressed, as all of her friends testified the x-box was dead and had to go to Microsoft for repair. TM :thumb:
imschur
So you just turned what i thought was an urban legend into fact. Thats awesome.
techmike
Urban legend ? This is my first contact with XBOX - other than warping it into our home network. Who the heck figures this stuff out??? I automatically discounted the "towel procedure", but all of the "fixes" tended to be related to heat. Some research indicates that Microsoft used lead free solder on the mobos. I hate that stuff - I have been using leaded solder since I was a sprout - no problems except for the baldness, extra thumb and somferhhbh skn k problems with spelling.TM 8)
imschur
 Someone suggested to me the forcing of the RROD with heat to get mine covered under warranty
FS2KSTD
LOL ... you guys are noiding me out! I'm neck deep in Halo ODST and if my 360 Elite takes a dump, I will use it for target practice!!! ;D It definitely is twitchy compared to my old XBox ... I've quit playing DVD's in it to see if it lives longer.
