Hey R-dog, welcome aboard! Not much to say about the Colt .22lr lower.... it DOES come apart, but, do not substitute any springs into the trigger group - full auto has been known to occur... A drop of lube on the mag release once & a while, and on the trigger group where Colt recommends.

PS - Just checked - Colt does NOT mention lube in the trigger group. Go figure.

Thanks aqain techmike for the valuaable info.  I didn't think there was much to caring for the lower but it seems to me that you are the man to check with.  I shot my Colt today and now have 2040 rounds through it so tomorrow theres a good chance I'll try out your extened cleaning method.

You are welcome guys!

Hey Techmike!

Now that you have made a GREAT START with the PPT presentation on how to detail disassemble the upper, would you please consider  making a couple more?

One for disassembling the bolt (or slide) for cleaning and re-assembling it?

And another for disassembling the Trigger (fire control) group for cleaning and re-assembling it?

I know about the 'warranty void' issue (How would they know unless it was improperly re-assembled?) - But hang that policy - - I like to know my guns thoroughly, and be sure they are clean with no manufacturing garbage left inside!

Hi Ron, Here is a page on removing the trigger group. I do not recommend mods to the trigger, I tried substituting springs to lighten trigger pull. Lighten it I did, and it also went full auto. Instead, what I did was send the trigger pack to Bill Springfield, in Colorado Springs-he does a $49 trigger job that reduced pull from > 8# to 4.5#. Check him out HERE. He does quality work! As for cleaning, nothing in the lower gets very dirty, I just run a rag thru the mag well, and wipe down the rest. After 5k rounds, it's still very clean. I will put something together for the slide, thanks for the suggestion!

If you send it in for warranty work and the top of the bolt and the receiver channel for the bolt is clean, they will know it has been disassembled. These areas develop a hard scale that spray will not touch. Mine is over a year old anyway, and I've been disassembling it since the beginning....Remember to install the slide stop spring and pin flush with the hole before trying to install the barrel, they are EASILY damaged.....NEVER TRY  to ''pull'' the barrel into place by tightening the flash hider. You are mashing the hell out of this dislocated spring if you do.

TM,

Thanks for the pointer to the trigger group dis-assembly - that takes care of half of what I asked you for!  :thumb:

I am looking forward to the slide (or 'bolt') dis-assembly/assembly presentation!

I don't know if you are familiar with the Ruger Forum, but they have an expert fellow named IOWEGIAN there that is very famous for making instruction presentations like yours for Ruger guns (I have them downloaded for all the Ruger firearms that I own - and they are excellent). It looks like you are well on the way to earning that position on THIS forum!

BTW, Have you or any other members of this forum seen this?

I hope that is VERY rare on these rifles! It does give me something to worry about tho'!  >:(

Hmm there are some misconceptions in that thread. Some folks aren't getting these are.22's.

I find it hard to fathom a break like that without the help of a human. Who knows.

Lastly in the case of Colt and Sig these are merely licensed brand trademarks and not a reflection of the manufacturers actual firearms.

Interesting none the less.

Those pictures have been bounced around the internet more than cheap porn. The cracked and broken lower I saw a year ago. Any aluminum part will break if dropped just right or enough weight is placed on it. This gun did NOT ''blow up''. It has been BROKEN. As far as the remarks- these fools would bash the Virgin Mary if they had the chance. Remember most of these internet gun critics NEVER post pictures of THEIR guns, 'cause their wives won't let them have one. Bashing legitimate guns and their owners make them feel less small....

Right click the file and select "Open With" See if you get the powerpoint option in the box. If you do select "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"

second option is to open power point then open the file from power point.

If you dont have powerpoint in that box something is up an we will have to work backwards. Can you see the extensions on all your files? It's odd that your also having trouble with the word document as well.

What version of office are you on?
