rodent.22
Here in central Virginia there are a few places I see frequently that have strange names that noone seems to know the origins of- One is Toe Ink Wayside, a roadside picnic area that even the highway dept doesn't know where that one came from. Another is Jackass Flats, about 5 miles east of Toe Ink. Skinquarter is another place name that's kind of weird....
imschur
Thats pretty neat. My parents had land in upstate New York. The two roads leading to our road were Bare hill and lovers lane. Bare hill was the name given after a forrest fire. Lovers lane is self explanatory >:D

bdavison
Sister used to live on "Nonesuch" Rd in Texas....Pennsylvania is the oddest state, for a state that consists mostly of Amish folks they sure think its funny to name cities like "Intercourse". Emmery
I lived near Martinsburg WV and we had three roads called Flat cat Lane, Flat Rabbit Rd, and Flat Squirrel rd. Either nobody had brakes or really stupid critters that lounged on the roads.

imschur
Where I grew up there was a funeral home across the street. There was also a small road in which the sign read "Dead End"
