I try to keep the politics light as there is no need to preach to ourselves but man I was reading this morning that Walmart is teaming up with Bloomberg with that antigun mayor group.

They're liable to alienate a large comsumer bloc interjecting politics into retail business. At least a subject as polarizing as gun control.

I think this story is over a year old and Bloomberg twsted it to make it sound like a big deal, I believe all it did was move the guns away from the front of the counters on the carosels.

i dont know about that, but i keep load'en up on federal 550 bulk and winchester 555 boxes at wally world, they would lose alot of profits going w/bumberg!!

I wish the idiot ordering ammo at our local Walmart knew what they were doing. I went in a week ago for .22lr and was handed .22 longs and when I said no I need Long Rifles was told "That's the same thing".

All I know, is that every dollar you spend, is a vote for something-I'm not advocating a boycott or anything of the like, I believe in free market capitolism, however I do try and Be extremely cognizant of where my money goes.  My .02.

wally world in florida is now full of ammo..when it was scarce all i did was pad the pockets of their sporting good clerks and i would get a call when the caliber i wanted came in and they would hold what i wanted..shhhss dont tell..lol!

Make no mistake about American business- the are totally in bed with political power and politicians with ANY sort of power. PROFITS are all that matters. Guns are no different. Bloomberg croaks- the guns will be at the front of the counters again.

Anybody buy a gun at Walmart lately?  Did you get escorted to the front entrance?  Why do they do that? 

I also bought a ammo at the other grocery store int town.  They escorted me to the the cashier at the store exit.  I figured that was because they have a lot of shoplifters 'though. 

Is there some kind of new law that I don't know about, or is that Store policy?

Yeah I bought a shotgun 20 years ago at Wal-Mart....escorted to the door and handed the gun OUTSIDE. Company policy I was told. I've bought several since, escorted and delivered outside on all of them.

That's how they do it here at Academy Sports - they carry the gun up front for you, you're not given the option to carry it until you're going out.

I asked at Big 5 why the escort and was told company policy, and to make sure 2 employees look at all the gun sale paperwork.

i bought a gun at wally couple of years ago, the sporting goods manager escorted me to the front door/ company policy, i really didnt care, got a good price on the gun and would do it again...also i buy ammo in the sporting goods section, just have to pay for it at their counter, not up front/no escort, but prices have risen maybe 10% and the selection is still good in south Fla.

I can see if they didn't do this so goof wandering around the store with their new rifle, and the guy with watching the security cameras calling in a robbery or worse to 911, or another customer screaming he has a gun and starting a panic.

Considering some of the people I see in my local Wal-Mart I think this is a very sound policy.
