44terryberry Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 You Smith guys, dont get mad at me, but my Colt Umerex will outshoot my Smith with any ammo, any time,by a long shot. ,at 100yds. The smith is ultimately reliable, whereas the Colt is kinda hit or miss. Good shootin, guys,,,,
Microgunner Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 My CMMG shoots even better than my Colt did.
belstad Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Don't get mad Colt guy but.... I would rather have a gun that shoots well all of the time than a great shooting gun that works part time. :o
Longitude Zero Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Don't get mad Colt guy but.... I would rather have a gun that shoots well all of the time than a great shooting gun that works part time. :oWhat you said.
Old Salt Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Don't get mad Colt guy but.... I would rather have a gun that shoots well all of the time than a great shooting gun that works part time. :oDITTO
dan01 Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 I have fired both rifles extensively.....There is no substantial difference between the two........I think the arguable difference is in the shooter's skill level or the type of sights or optics used.
Longitude Zero Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 S&W manual of arms is light years better than Colts.
dan01 Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 S&W manual of arms is light years better than Colts.Longitude Zero, could you explain what you mean by "manual of arms".........Having both rifles and having fired both extensively, I can find no significant difference in quality and accuracy between the two...The only fault I find with the S&W M&P is that the receiver is polymer where as the Colt has an all aluminum receiver............Have you personally owned and operated both rifles or are you going by other peoples reviews?
rodent.22 Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 He's referring to the clarity of the owners manuals. I own both types, (The S&W is the 15/22P) They are on a par with each other. The Smith is slightly less ammo brand picky. My M4 OPS is an early one, over 2 years old.
Longitude Zero Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Also the S&W breaks down more in line with the real AR's. IMHO Colt foolishly overcomplicated the mechanism. Keep It Simple. I have owned and operated both. I kept the S&W and sold the Colt. Pretty much answers that. The Colt was not my cup of tea. Polymer vs Aluminium is really a non issue for many as the polymer has had no documented troubles.
dan01 Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Longitude Zero, my Colt and S&W both break down nearly the same.....Push out the pin just behind the trigger and safety and the rifles break like the 5.56 ARs....The further field stripping may differ some what, but if the manual is followed there is no problem............................................Do you have both rifles to do hands on comparisons?.........Both rifles are great and the owners are entitled to their opinion of which they prefer........I like both and would recommend either equally.
Longitude Zero Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 At one time I had both but I liked the Smith better and dumped the Colt. Also the Smith was more accurate. To each their own.
