Tal Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I said Yes...But the cost is so prohibitive. If given the choice between spending the dough on a supressor or a full auto, I think I'd spend it on the full auto..
imschur Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 Tal you can get a great .22 suppressor including the tax stamp for less than $600 I paid $399 for my silencerco sparrow. The tax stamp is $200

You swapped F holes for bullet holes :thumb: I have been trying to tell George he should get in to gun parts
lmao_37 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I would like to get two one for my mosin and one for my AK .22 but none of the ranges round here allow them >:(
imschur Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 I would like to get two one for my mosin and one for my AK .22 but none of the ranges round here allow them >:( really? Thats crazy
Microgunner Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Had one, hardly ever used it. I found I prefer my rimfires loud (if you can call them that).I might consider another if I were rabbit or squirrel hunting , but I'm not anymore.
asmurff Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 What are the main reason for a suppressed .22. Since I shoot on a range all the time I'm can't figure out why I'd need one other than maybe the coolness factor. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against thembut haven't come up with a compelling reason to spend the money or give the info to the feds for the tax stamp.I can understand if you are able to shoot on your own property and don't want to irritate the neighbors. Sadly I can't, city ordinance.Hunting for small game so as not to spook other critters?Indoor shooting to save on the ear drums?
imschur Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 For me it will open up places to shoot without bothering the neighbors. Very often here in my area even when legal to shoot on private property neighbors are calling the cops after the first shot. It gets old.
asmurff Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 I assume shooting the neighbors is out of the question ???
imschur Posted November 18, 2011 Author Report Posted November 18, 2011 I assume shooting the neighbors is out of the question ??? The police came and busted our chops one thanksgiving. We were shooting a Ruger Single Six .22.
Microgunner Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 What are the main reason for a suppressed .22 Their original and best utilized purpose is small game hunting.
Madhouse Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 'Cause it's so damned cool!!
asmurff Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 'Cause it's so damned cool!! :laugh:I'll buy that!
Tal Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Yep..it is a 10 on the coolness factor...
Microgunner Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Yep..it is a 10 on the coolness factor...I guess that's true because they really do work quite well on a rimfire.
nhgunnut Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I use mine off my back porch. My supressors keep me in the good graces of my neighbours. I have a. 22 and a. 223. I am in all likelhood going to get a good·30 cal can in the next year.
wobblinwheel Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 How do you suppress a .223?? If the bullet travels faster than the speed of sound, you still get one hell of a CRACK!!
Microgunner Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 Well, you get two sonic booms when you fire a super sonic projectile, the bullet breaks the sound barrier and so does the expanding gases as they exit the bore. The supressor effectively reduces the sonic boom from the expanding gases leaving only the projectiles sonic crack. There is a great reduction of noise but not an elimination.
