I can think of no major reason not to buy the compact. I've thought about one with a Butler Creek stock with the shoulder stock removed and keeping it as a truck gun for coyotes and such.
My son's fiance had breast cancer 2 years ago, and my wife had a benign lump removed before we met, so I'll definitely pick some up. We both buy pink when we can.
I've seen picture of damaged cause by 50cal chamber failure in WWII aircraft. Plus 1 incident of 20mm cannon failure in an F-16, pilot was lucky to survive it considering he sits directly above the gun.
We have a small dog (Rogue) that likes cherry tomatoes, but only if they are still sun warm. The only times the dogs are allowed on the garden side is when we're picking stuff from the garden and Rogue loves to steal them out of the basket.
I'd vote SR-22 because it is based on the 10/22 a reliable semi-auto rifle. With lots of upgrades and parts availibility. I don't know much about the 597 line, one of the guys I shoot Tactical Rimfire with has one, the very base model. He had a few break-in issues and they appear to be ammo finicky, not sure about after market magazines and such.
Went and looked at the Sig 1911-22lr, looks realy good and I'm not a Sig fan, but it is the only one I've seen with all the safeties working. Doesn't make since to me to train with a pistol you don't have all the working widgets as the full caliber one.
I have Buckmark Camper, also for the grip angle which closely matches my 1911s. After 12 years I replaced the recoil spring, and it runs like a champ again. I didn't use to shoot it very often, but since starting the Tactical Rimfire matches I have been put a lot of rounds through it. I recommend it. The Neos is to Buck Rogers for me, but can't attest to it's reliability.
The .22 uppers aren't on Spike's web site anymore, I just look in the forum there and this was on it. [glow=red,2,300]The ST-22 uppers and rifles have been discontinued due to supplier quality issues. [/glow]
A few years ago they had a survey on their web site and lots of gun forums found out and posted for everyone to go and mess up the survey, they shut it down pretty quick.
Welcome to the group, I'm very interested in your range report. I'm considering one of these for my wife, if she decides she wants to start shooting in our tactical .22 matches.
The Ruger SR1911 http://www.ruger.com/products/sr1911/models.html That is one fine looking 1911, so if I don't win the Powerball this week I'm selling the 20 year old redheaded stepdaughter into White Slavery >:D.
