Xiotis_504 Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Hi everyone my name is Michael and I live in Louisiana. I do most of my hunting in Mississippi where my dad owns some hunting land, but occasionally do some in Louisiana. The idea of getting a tactical 22 came to me when saw the "colt" m4 in an academy magazine a few weeks ago. I cant even tell you how frustrating it is to pick one of these guns. I really like the looks of the "colt" m4 ops, but it seems that some people have problems with them and others dont. If the gun doesnt last i dont want to get it if it just looks good.I will primarily use the rifle to hunt rabbits and other small game and also some target shooting. If anyone can help me choose it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Microgunner Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Welcome to T22 Michael. Glad you joined up.
asmurff Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Glad you joined us, sorry can't help much with you question since all I have is a 10/22 tricked out to be tacticool. But several members have several different tactical .22s.
imschur Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 By their own admission Umarex learned from their mistakes with the Colt. The Sig was the result of those lessons. You can always get an AR-15 and a dedicated .22lr upper.
Xiotis_504 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Report Posted June 5, 2010 yea im on a tight budget since im a college kid haha so i dont really want a real AR15 quite yetthanks for the welcoming
imschur Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Im leaning towards that tactical model myself ;D
asmurff Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Or one of these if the budget is real tight, it is my 10/22 with an ATI stock.
lmao_37 Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Or one of these if the budget is real tight, it is my 10/22 with an ATI stock.are you getting paid to advertise the woogah 10/22 ;D
Xiotis_504 Posted June 6, 2010 Author Report Posted June 6, 2010 like i said before i was leaning towards the colt because of the looks but now im kinda liking the new s&w m&p. Im gonna go look at one at a store and see how it feels. Is the polymer durable? I know the colt was made out of metal but i hear it might crack easily.
Madhouse Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Welcome aboard Michael! If I might throw another option out there for you to ponder, check out the Sig 522. I have one, and I have a S&W M&P 15-22, and I think I would take the Sig out varmint hunting given the choice.
techmike Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Welcome - I have the Colt, and like it a bunch. Just had a trigger job done on it that reduced the factory pull from 10.5 to 4.75 lbs - what a difference. I have a buddy that has the M&P - he likes it but has not shot it nearly as much as I have the Colt. I have run 4.5 to 5k rounds thru it - no issues other than it can be finicky with some brands of ammo. :beer:TM
Xiotis_504 Posted June 6, 2010 Author Report Posted June 6, 2010 it seems like the colts are hit or miss. Or maybe the people who are getting poor results arent cleaning/taking care of them well. But it seems if its between the colt and s&w that the s&w would be a better buy, its also cheaper which is a plus hahaO and those rugers look cool. I have a ruger 22 mag which i really do like.
asmurff Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 are you getting paid to advertise the woogah 10/22 ;DNaw, just like tinkering with them and shooting them. After I get an AR-15 style rifle, I'm going to do some more 10/22s. I'll have 4 empty slots in the gun safe >:D
rodent.22 Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 I have the Colt OPS, and shoot 500 rounds at a time, NO issues. I also have a 15/22 pistol, the polymer is very good, I don't even think about it being polymer when handling it. Also NO issues, 500 rounds at a time....As far as undetectable from a real AR, the Colt can be laid side by side, picked up and handled and the ONLY giveaway is the magazine length. Glad to have ya!!!
