Madhouse Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 I was given some guns today from an aging, ailing friend. Several of these were rimfires. Here is the challenge:Where do you find the serial number on a Remington Scoremaster model 511?
Madhouse Posted June 2, 2012 Author Report Posted June 2, 2012 Might have solved it. Found this on Wikipedia:As the Scoremaster 511 was manufactured before 1968, these rifles do not have serial numbers. A two or three letter date code (indicating manufacture date) is stamped on left side of the barrel next to the receiver.Mine is stamped 30!
Microgunner Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 Those old Remingtons shoot like a dream if in decent shape.Congratulations.
Madhouse Posted June 2, 2012 Author Report Posted June 2, 2012 It's in excellent shape. There were 3 rimfires altogether. One of the others is a Savage pump action, the mag is stamped 1903!!
Madhouse Posted June 3, 2012 Author Report Posted June 3, 2012 Wish I could browse for pics on an iPad!

asmurff Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 The NRA "Offical Guide Firearms Assembly" Rifle and Shotgun does include the 511. So is the Savage Model 1903 Slide Action. The 1903 was dicontinued in 1921.
