imschur Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 This was my first attempt at Hummingbirds. It was on a whim during lunch yesterday. These buggers are a little difficult.A zoom lens would have been better but I dont have one for the D800. I ended up using a fixed 50mm lens, ISO 100, f3.5, 1/60's. I used a Nikon SB 800 flash on manual at a very low setting. Im going to try again this week tweaking my settings a bit.
Tal Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Good pics Drew...I remember when I was a kid, roaming the wilds of mississippi. I spent countless hours with my red rider trying to shoot one of those little guys, in granny's front yard. Thank god she never caught me and also that I was unsuccessful..
asmurff Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Great pics, they are very hard to photograph and are so skittish.
Microgunner Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Fine job for a first try with a new camera.
imschur Posted July 3, 2012 Author Report Posted July 3, 2012 maybe a slight ghosting with a lot of luck
edgecrusher Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 that's something we could try when we go shooting. bet subsonic bullets and some shutter or aperature experimenting may provide results.
